I heard the MSB and I prefer my Esoteric. The MSB gear is very physically imposing, it is much bigger in real life than what you might anticipate from photos. Justification of price tag for that sort of gear includes, not just sound quality, but many nefarious aspects unique to each respective owner.

Well they didnāt all come in at once. They came in batches. We do have that problem now because we bought enough more to serve our customers. Fortunately we have the new building and we stashed most of them over there.
Paul, I know this question is very premature. With all the talk / speculation about another Redbook only transport would/could there be a possibility that PWTās could be upgraded with the new transport - same scenario as the DS kit: As you know my PWT hasnāt worked at all well since I bought it, even after various investigations to uncover reasons why, in kit form this would give me (and others) the ability to use the beautiful PWT box sitting unused on a shelf. Worth consideration ??

Yes, everythingās worth considering. Whatās wrong with the PWT? The easiest path would be to let us fix whateverās wrong.

Today I connected my new DMP and listened for an hour or so. The DMP came loaded with 3.06 firmware. I played through a Stellar Gain Cell with I2S and M700 amps; and wow, the music was alive. My emotional impact was the greatest while hearing Bob Dylanās Bringing it All Back Home while walking downstairs to my listening room. It took me back to the days of coffee clubs (Listening in Another Room), the experience reminded me of standing outside the clubs, hearing live music.
I experienced no DMP playing problems. Admittedly I played the whole CD, and 5 others, start to finished. I did use the remote for track search on other CDs. That is virtually my only method of listening. Fantastic player.

Thanks! Yes, indeed itās a the best sounding player I have ever heard and Iāve heard a lot of them. Most, in fact. All new units fresh from the factory ship with 3.06 and weāve had no problems. Expect another minor code upgrade around the first of September.

I doubt it. Thereās a lot of open water between where the code is now and where it needs to be. For one, most data discs and USBs donāt work. That fix, Iām guessing isnāt minor.
I also infer from Paulās post, perhaps incorrectly, that we are a ways away from fixing the data disc issue if weāre 45 days away from a āminor code update.ā

I think you may have misread Paulās post - he mentioned around 1st September- thatās 2 weeks away, not 45d. How many updates until full functionality- iād guess we might be looking at Christmas 2018???

WOW !! Frank, ā Iāve just managed to get the current O/S operational and you say I will have to go through it all this again in a couple of weeks time ? Pity I couldnāt teleport my DMP to PS headquarters in Colorado but, knowing my luck with my DMP, it would probably arrive in Tajikistan or some such a place ! Counting down the days

I installed 3.06 this morning.
It does all I want it to do from the remote.
What it does not do is display cover art although it appears on the playlist and does not play the SACD layer on hybird discs. I assume that these issues are being addressed.

As has been mentioned a few times try a cold reboot of your unit as pretty much everyone had got to the point of SACD playing.
You might need to try re-loading the update a few times and re-downloading, then new update, then cold re-boot. Have to keep going.
I wonder if we (the PS A community) could share our known, proven to work downloads on the SD card we used in a successful update to others - a few posting around states in various countries might help??? Dunno. Iād certainly be happy to send my DMP SD card to Perth if it could say help Brodric or someone else in Oz.
My DMP updated to v3.06, no issue at all.
