What he said!
Why? Will the earth explode!
no, it will go flat
for the 25% that think the earth is flat, it will explode
I ground my MU2 and most everything else to a Synergistic Active Ground Block SX with good results.
Itâs interesting that SR does not necessarily recommend grounding amplifiers, and they do not provide separate ground leads on their speaker cablesâŚ
Your system could play Supertrampâs album continuously for 3 months and each silver component could turn black and vice versa.
Be aware!
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, beautiful, magical
Apologies for diverting from the Grimm thread but grounding was recently discussed here.
Update, after further listening, separate input grounding with the CAD GC1.1 on mono amps seems to have little or no effect.
Signal grounding with the same method on sources, does. Specifically, Jays, MU2, Tempus.
No surprise, but needed to test the âwhat ifsâ.
Since used MU2s donât show up often, I thought Iâd share this listing from US Audiomart. I know nothing about this specific unit or the seller. If everything is legit, the $12,850 price is great.
A handful have popped up recently, one went quick with an asking of $12,500.
I assume a change of heart in many instances. Two Playback Designs MPD-8 DSD DACs appeared recently as well.
Maybe not a change in heart, but a change in circumstance?
I consider the MU2 and the MPD-8 as class leading DACâs. Doing better would take serious coin, as well as adding to the component and cable count.
âDownsizingâ by getting rid of a streamer/dac/preamp as good as an MU2 is something I just could not do.
For some people, the,
- âkids needs bracesâ
- âweâve movedâ
- âmy significant other doesnât share (or hates) my hobbyâ
- âI have to feed other interestsâ
- âthe emotional rewards do not match the investmentâ.
Whatever the reason to change that âperfectly good piece of equipment,â guys like us are really outliers. A small percentage. Most do not share our addiction and attachment.
Yep, an awfully expensive addiction
I tried to convince my daughter and son-in-law to start using the streamer I gave them more than a year ago. They make good money and is shopping for a home. I can even provide extra cables for them. But my daughter will not even consider a $10k system.
She reminded me that was how I promised the family a long time ago (before she was born actually) that I was done with audio addiction. The last thing she wants to see is that her husband turning into another audiophile.
The more likely isâŚ.
I have significant OCD and lack self control
And we keep encouraging each other to go over the edge with endless improvements, lol.
Though these improvements have helped our systems.
this is a forum of enablers who will all meet face to face for the first time in hell⌠where we will be fated to âdiscussâ tweaks and improvements for eternity - a sort of âaudiophile huis closâ
*but am pretty sure after a while weâll get kicked out because no one down there can stand to hear more and weâll be sent to heaven if we promise not to speak about it anymore

Dare I say, your daughter is smart. My daughter is planning to inherit my gear and maybe my ROON lifetime subscription. She is patient.
