You can play the CD layer, that is if it is a dual layer disc (I think they call it a āHybridā disc), by going in to the menu, find āLayerā and toggle it to default to the CD layer.

You are comparing the regular cd layer of an SACD with the PST sending a digital CD signal to the MU2 and hearing how that sounds compared to the PST sending the DSD layer of the SACD to the MK2? (I hope)

I can find out if, and how much sacd layer sounds better than cd layer using PST/MK2 through MU2, and I expect SACD would sound better.
To compare the two DACs, Iāll need to borrow Stealth AES to connect PST to MU2ā DAC. But in such comparison the cable differences play a major role too. Unless thereās a huge difference in SQ, I donāt think I will be able to say which DAC is better for sure.
Frankly I donāt expect to hear a vast difference because I stated before that the magic sauces were mixed after the pre stage so all sources benefit no matter which entry point is. Thatās why I am hearing equal improvements from both streaming and SACD, and they sound similar too.
But itās fun to know how PST sounds through MU2 alone.

If you donāt hear a difference in DACās then you donāt hear a difference. There will be different cables from PST to MK2 and PST to MU2. Maybe this will skew the results, just donāt use any Stealth cables

Exactly! This whole exercise is to satisfy a few membersā curiosity since I will not give up my 400+ SACD (300+ are single layer). MK2 will be in the system for a long time.
I tried SACDextract on my brand new 27" all-in-one using a Sony BDP S-5100 again. No, I still cannot rip SACD like before. Has anyone ripped a SACD lately? Mine stopped working a couple of years ago and I thought my laptop was the problem. Now the new one does not work either. 
You may need to update the freeware for ripping Iāve had to do that several times.
I did FW update more than 6 months ago; I will do it again tomorrow. Thanks!

I was once the biggest DSD/SACD snob there was! I owned multiple Sony SACD players, Marantz SACD players, multiple Oppo players to the Mk1 Direcstream and I loved them all! Now I have all my DSD ripped to DSF and my system has never sounded better without any of the gear I mentioned in service. I love DSD but I no longer seek it out and prioritize it over non DSD recordings. Now after hearing the benefits of the Gryphon PZ I may become a vinyl snob! lol
I have completed your business plan. Grimm MU2/ Sakras/ Octava T/ Muon Pro. Can I move to the head of the class? The only exception is the replacement of the PST for the Jayās. Itās a better performer and Iām cool with only Redbook. The task is getting some of the SACDās on the MU2 drive. Still some homework there.
Future plans include getting the PZ (already in progress) and the Stealth V18 speaker cables.
