Feel that, Paul. But this is a side effect of creating an open internet Forum. Be glad this is so much less messed up than average.
Though I would have to add that it is representative of the disproportionate influence of those who are willing to spend the time and energy on negativity. One in a hundred or a thousand. I was recently reading something about how surprisingly willing people are to Pay Good Money and spend time to watch humans kill each other on screen as Entertainment. Just sayin’. Not the same thing, but not unrelated. Can’t look away from the car crash.

My biggest surprise it has taken you this long with the righteous indignation. Once more, you take upon yourself - championing the cause, another overtly demonstrative hand-waving fit of pique from Paul’s Apostle. Resplendent in your Argenteuil cloth robe and sandals - daily worship at the altar of broken HiFi … “Just joshing…!”
The strong language wasn’t necessary. And the sly digs, so predictable - you just leave yourself open. It’s so easy to get a rise out of you. Why do “you” take things so personally ? 99% True. I think Brodric just enjoys winding you folks up with no malice intended and you make it easy for him to do so.
If I read a thread where a grievance has been regurgitated a few times then I just skip over it and it doesn’t bother me one iota, but it’s like it eats into your soul and you have to vent your spleen!!
Anyway, time for a bath. I have spent the whole day handpicking sheep ticks from my 100sq mile estate…. The Laird.

I personally also understand the cause of brodric‘s anger and part of his need to be an antipole here. I think he just missed the point not to get worked up about all that quite some time ago and realize that nothing except himself can stop him from all that.
No matter if Paul even personally displeased the one or other … this place needs all opinions and experiences, also the bad, but doesn’t deserve negative energy.
Let’s hear some music…

What puzzles me somewhat is somebody has had the opportunity to say “we’ve heard you, all the disaffected are right, we’ve screwed up big time more than a few times over the years, and for that we are truly sorry, we’re working to improve, we will make things right for everybody”. Or something-or-other, but as yet, it 'aint been said.
The loyal Apostles however sure have been doing a bit of ducking and weaving in amongst the barnstorm of facts. They are equally guilty of having little positive to say when something positive might have been said. Although I don’t include Mr Beef in that list, he is in the wordsmith too clever category for me to truly understand, sometimes.

OK - I have a DS Sr, DMP an older PPP powering the front end, some AC power cords and a few of the Noise Harvester gizmos. Happily, all have been trouble-free including firmware updates. I “upgraded” a PWT to the DMP, so am not too thrilled that the DMP went EOL, but Oppo more or less blindsided the entire industry and PSA stocked up on the drives to be able to support the device going forward.
I say “trouble-free,” but I have to qualify that by saying that I did experience some wonky behavior of the DMP that was eventually sorted out by firmware updates. To me, it was idiosyncratic, but not a show-stopper.
That said, I generally eschew “bells & whistles” and prefer devices that are designed to deliver flawless core functionality. So product features that, for example, rely on internet connections to display cover art and do other gee-whiz stuff aren’t high on my list. I look at them as distractions to the core functionality. This is one of the reasons I’m running Pass electronics. The only thing Nelson does is design power amps. (Wayne does the pre-amps). Product updates come out about every 7 years or so when circuit development reaches a certain threshold of improvement in SQ. Relentless focus on core functionality, but that’s just me. YMMV, and that’s OK.
FWIW, Brodric should have his say. Before I make a significant purchase (of anything) I specifically search out the negative reviews but take them with an appropriate grain of salt. They are far fewer in number than raves, but combing through them often reveals recurring problems that are worthy of further research and/or limits to how the product might be put to use. Positive ones rarely say more than the purchaser liked the product. Not here AFAIK, but elsewhere on the net many are fake.
