Yes - I have an MP1 platform w/ Elite Rizer attached to a 1in thick wood base screwed to the front of MP1 I designed and built. Wahoo Kickr V6 smart trainer controlling the Rizer. iPad controls the Wahoo using Rouvy cycling ap. 65in FS (top) for the Rouvy mirrored from iPad and 55in FS below mirrored from iPhone I’m running GCN+ pro cycling events while I ride.
I just built a Trek Project One SLR7 Domane w/ Ultegra wireless DI2, ceramic BB & jockey wheels, SWORKS adaptive saddle, KEO CF/Ti pedals. Running compact crank (50/34) w/ 11/30 cassette.
I too went to the perceived dark side for two reasons. Wanted to ride at the pace I used to and with spouse on an Ebike we ride at the same pace. There is something sweet about passing younger riders…
Recent eBike adopter here, as well. Never thought I would go to the dark side but one test ride was all it took! I ended up with a Specialized Vado 4. Seemed expensive for a moment until I contrasted the cost with what components go for in this hobby
Expensive? MSRP on the VADO 4 is less than half the price of a 1m AQ Dragon RCA interconnect. That said, Specialized is running a summer sale on several of their bike models, including the VADO line, which puts it at about 1/3 the price of the AQ cable. Something is definitely whacked with pricing but I’m not sure it’s the bike prices
Mountain bikes are awesome! One of my brothers has an eMTB (Turbo Levo Pro Carbon) which is pretty sweet but at the price of a 2m AQ Dragon RCA interconnect! Too much for my Shunyata Sigma NR V2 budget
I had an Orbea Orca that I regret selling. I remember when I got it everyone including magazine editors where speculating why Orbea chose to name it after the Orca.
We learned that it was an acronym for Orbea carbon, their first carbon fiber frame.
My niece used to work for Orbea. My brother is their distributor in Puerto Rico.
Too bad there is no family pricing.
I used to ride an Intense (Spyder Carbon) and after trying an Occam I was sold. I then added an Oiz (2 actually 29 and a 27.5). Amazing machines with unheard off warranty (which I hope I never need).
I’ve had an ebike for a couple of years now, an Aventon Aventure - with it I’ve gone completely car-less. If it weren’t for the ebike I don’t think it would be possible. Grocery runs, general schlepping around town, all on the bike now. I’ve really learned more about my city and surrounding neighborhoods than I thought I ever would have.
Very nice! I haven’t been able to eliminate internal combustion transportation entirely (baby steps… ) but I find myself looking at the bike as my first option for use whenever possible. Tomorrow, I’ll be biking a 40 mile segment of a “rails-to-trails” initiative that will eventually connect the east and west coasts of central Florida. Unfortunately, I need to schlep the bikes to a trailhead via a Yukon Denali. I’m pretty sure I’m in a net negative carbon position
@ErVikingo - thanks for the tip! I was unaware of the TrailLink app but I’ve since downloaded it and so far am impressed. I was happy to see the “East Central Regional Rail Trail (Florida)” listed as that is what I’ll be riding tomorrow. Using the app going forward will be much more convenient than the associated web site. We’ll be starting relatively early; as you know, its been getting crazy hot by mid-morning and the afternoon convection showers are a daily occurrence. Thanks again
Will do Lately, we have been having issues with crocodiles up here, as well. Sadly, last week a dog in Satellite Beach met his maker courtesy of a croc.
Nice bike, and was on my short list. I went with a Trek Allant+7, as i needed the XL frame, at 6’5" I totally overwhelmed the Vado. The Allant+7 has been great on the local hills, especially considering my bad knees.
@weedeewop Very nice! I like that you can sit fairly upright, if you desire. Looks very comfortable!
In spite of my interest in the audiophile hobby, I’m not normally an impulsive person. However, once I rode my brothers eBike for the first time, it was over for me. I think there is a saying that says something to the effect. “A luxury once tasted becomes a necessity” or something like that
I still ride conventional bikes - but very occasionally (like if the probability of bad weather is high and I don’t want to expose the Vado to the elements)
