Spotted in a hotel parking lot in Silverthorn, CO this morning (got stranded in Summit County last night when I-70 closed). The comic relief was welcome.
…and thoroughly enjoy the curvy bits. Vette’s may be faster (than some Porsche’s) in a straight line, but not through the turns and not nearly as enjoyable to drive.
You may find it useful to review the historical Lightning Lap times and compare the lap times of Corvettes v. Porsches and see how often Corvettes are faster on the track, which is replete with “curvy bits.” Only the $365,000 Porsche gt2rs Weissach is quicker than the fastest Corvette (in stock form). All the other Porsches fall in line behind the Corvette. There are a group of 911 Porsches beat by a Camaro as well. Click
In any event, these bench racing “mine is bigger than yours” arguments are stupid.
Drive what you like and enjoy it. Let the other guy enjoy his car just as much.
The Mini is a hoot. I also enjoy driving a Miata, particularly on a twisty track - incredible fun.
Yes, my Z06 is a lot faster than both, but this does not make either any less fun. If anything this makes them more fun as they are so different to drive than the Z06.
I had a 90 Miata that I loved driving. I can’t fit in the new ones. My head is above the wind screen. For some reason I could fit in the original. That’s also why I never got an S2000 although I really wanted one. I’m a roadster guy at heart.
I spend a good deal of time at race tracks. I also live in an area with many twisty roads, no traffic, good visibility-- perfect for high performance cars and motorcycles.
The S2000 was wonderful. I think relatively few were sold as they were poor for stoplight racing. They need to rev to perform. I suspect many did not understand or enjoy this.
Yup, those Car And Driver magazine exercises on that track are a reliable, global demonstration of the superior racing heritage of Corvette vs Porsche in more categories of racing from LeMans to Dakar since the beginnings of each marque to today. Of course except drag racing, where Porsches are a joke, typically.
