We also love motorcycles

I have a basic Sena Bluetooth headset in my helmet but I tend not to use it that often because it can get too distracting. It usually ends up with me red-faced and cussing at Siri for not playing what I asked for. Ever.

I just rode through the neighborhood and then put some fresh gasoline in it. It has been sitting way too long but she fired right up with the new battery.

I parked it in September of 2019 right before my diagnosis. I’m just glad to get the chance to ride again.

Decided to go with a pair of Pirelli Angel GT IIs. Even though our Metzler Roadtec Z8s were not worn out at 6k, the center of the back tires were flattening out from a few long highway treks to NY, WV and NC. With the center of the Angel GTII’s rear tire made of a compound 10% harder than avthe Roadtec 01s, they are less likely to flatten out. Had 6k services performed too while we were at it.

We are 3 rides deep so this month since spring came early in New England. Just waiting for my new Shoei RF1400 helmet to arrive!

Good choice.

Do you have an opinion of them yet?

I had Angel GT IIs on my Multistrada for 3000 miles before selling it. They are superior tires which provide excellent feedback and road feel in wet and dry conditions at tempatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. They are so good in wet conditions it’s unreal.

I’ve ridden 60,000 miles in the past 10 years on Michelin Pilot 2s & 3s, Pirelli Scorpion 1 & 2s, Metzler Roadtec 01s & Z8s and Pirelli Amgel GT IIs. The Metzler Roadtec 01s (non SE version) are very good tires but Pirelli Angel GT IIs are better in every way and will last longer!

Current race bike state. She has sat for 7 years. I finally decided to get back at it. I’ll post a follow up pic when she’s all ready to go.

I have one buddy who loves his two BMW bikes and another friend who is a Ducati fanatic. I kind of marvel at the Ducati bikes. Just beautiful.

Unfortunately, we have one neighbor who’s bike is SO loud it wakes everyone up in the middle of the night when he returns from a long ride (rattles windows, startles pets). Aside from being annoyed, I wonder if it’s impacting his long term hearing?

It has been well proven now the loud pipes DO NOT save lives.

That pesky Doppler effect!

I have a BMW S1000RR and a small collection of Ducatis. The RR is an excellent bike, but it is no where near as fun or as pretty as the Ducatis.

If you think loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride that thing would do.

A friend of mine has the GT version of that. He keeps offering me the chance to take it out. I keep saying no. I have an R1200RS and I want to continue liking it! Beautiful ride. I hear the engine on that is amazing. Be safe.

Just say no to test riding any modern day and many old classics. The huge grin just melts my mind and opens my wallet.

Since my RS never fails to put a grin on my face I guess I’m good. The GTL has a lower seat than the GT, doesn’t it? Some of the BMWs I’ve test ridden have really high seats. My RS is about the limit for us short inseamed folks.

The seat is very low to the ground and right now the distance between the seat and the pegs is a bit lower than I like. I see underneath the seat a possible way to raise it. With the low ground clearance there is room for raising.

On my first ride the bike was setup for comfort mode and boy oh bow, it was comfortable. Sport mode next LOL.

My RS is much more sporting than your GTL, for sure. It’s no Honda Interceptor or VFR but it suits me. That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? I almost always ride with the suspension and throttle set in dynamic mode. After years of Interceptors and VFRs I bought the RS. With the grips a little higher I sometimes wish for just a little more leg room. Hey, does this sound like another hobby we know?
