What Are You Spinning Right Now? (Mk. 2)

Thanks for the suggestion. I have queued it to play after the album I am currently listening to.

I realised how I had heard of Schmelzer previously. He was one of the featured composers on this album, which I had listened to because it featured Biber. Schmelzer was obviously good enough to prompt a Wikipedia search, but apparently that was not enough to commit him to memory :frowning: I am sometimes horrified by my lack of musical scholarship.

I’m just starting to discover artists and composers with recordings on the Archiv label (a DG imprint I believe). So far it seems like a 30-40 year gold mine.

Mabon
Welsh electric/traditional folk band. Great live band seen at my annual outing to the 4day World Music and Arts Festival (started by Peter Gabriel) in Adelaide, South Australia (WOMADelaide).

Thanks, I already ordered Vol 1. Fairly expensive used CD.

Yes - they are indeed expensive to buy secondhand! I have been searching online and it appears they are no longer available new hence the inflated used prices. I bought both CDs new for less than the cost of one used CD. Then again, it must be 15+ years since I bought them…

Nice bright sound and a good selection, concluding with an unusually lively version of the Pachelbel Canon & Gigue

Tibbetts is so cool. Local shop had a few of his ECM pressings, as well as his self-released original album. Had to pick em up.

Yep, D&B never achieved the notoriety they deserved. Except from other musicians.

One of the greatest live R&R tracks of all time and Eric’s greatest solo – “I Don’t Want to Discuss It” on a classic album – “On Tour With Eric Clapton.” The core of this 11-member group continued on as Derek & the Dominoes, as well as Harrison’s band on All Things Must Pass and Bangladesh. Every R&R collection should include this album.

The recent Eurythmics vinyl reissues are quite good and they come with codes for free downloads of high-res WAV files (also mp3, for those who care).
