Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951): Piano Works
I get a much better image with the speakers toed in and the wife ‘just’ complained. “It’s not enough that they stick out (from the wall), they now have to be at an angle.” Sigh. The KEFs are very small compared to my Tyler Acoustic speakers and amazingly good looking. Wait till she sees my subs!
This is not an audiophile recording, by any means, but so much fun and just flat out groovy!
Just discovered this yesterday. Wow! What a great album.
His Christmas cd is a hoot.
This is the Kind of Blue lineup (minus Miles Davis and Bill Evans) recorded on February 3, 1959, shortly before the Kind of Blue sessions (Mar. 2 and Apr. 22, 1959). Really tasty stuff!
Listening to this version. Exceptional.
And for some of John Zorn’s controlled chaos, Spy vs. Spy.
I couldn’t find this on Qobuz. Being unfamiliar with Bonporti, I picked another album pretty much at random. Good sound for 16/44.1. Not quite sure what to make of him yet except that, unsurprisingly, his music sounds very Italian.
With a tip of the hat to drummer Phillip Wilson.
Haven’t cranked it up yet so don’t know if it will rattle the walls and make the glassware in the kitchen shake but I expect the answer is yes.
“We got Nothin’ to Hiiiiiide…”
Side 2: “Heeeeey kiiiawah, Iiiiiii know your Name”
End of S2: “You have the World at your Fingertips, no one can make it Better than You (reprise)” with pipe organ.
Nobody uses real pipe organ in pop anymore, sadly. The first LP I ever bought was Lee Michaels, 'cuz the pipe organ was so awesome : )
“Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way”
…
"But now old friends they’re acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed
Well something’s lost, but something’s gained
In living every day.
I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all"
I think this one, Bjork‘s „Who is it“ and „New York State of mind“ in various original and cover versions are my 3 favorite songs of all time. I guess there’s one more that doesn’t come into my mind now.
I also listed this one here…great music and even better covers for vinyl freaks.
