I have that on vinyl. Maybe it’s time to listen it again, never quite got into it.
Three other RRs that I quite like.

I found this on Roon. Looks very interesting and “A Prof Johnson recording - remastered in HDCD”. Off we go …
I have some of those on vinyl. Was much as I like Stravinsky and want to like the RR, I never quite connected with them. Of course, your mileage may vary.
I think being both a longtime Three Penny Opera fan and from Chicago, it was a natural for me. At least the Weill.
A bunch of Chicago Symphony people in the group. And a music prof. from U. of C. as one of the founders.
I’m not a great fan of musicals, often because the sound is poor, but I have seen some tremendous ones over the years. One was Chicago with Ute Lemper and Ruthie Henshall in 1997. Ute Lemper has done many Weill recordings. I’ve posted this before - it’s great.
Try to hear the Reference Recordings releases of Manfred Honeck & the Pittsburgh Symphony, All are beautifully recorded & most performances are first class, including these 9.
Yes, I think you will notice sooner or later, that then Challenge recordings with the small icon besides the album text mostly sound better than the others.
Here’s a London-based Estonian music photographer that I met a while back. The poor guy has to come up with novel ideas for album covers.
I like his work.
What a range of expressions he manages to capture on Arvo Pärt!
Nice Easter gift from the Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall. - Watch free until April 5, 2021
The St Matthew Passion by Johann S. Bach | Digital Concert …
A favorite piece of mine. Its only failing is no trumpet parts (it is a Passion after all).
And five(?) versions of O Sacred Head, Now Wounded. Each harmonized differently.
The last performance I attended (Paul McCreesh conducting, we had a great chat before rehearsal regarding the piece, and his refusal to use multiple spot mics and massive editing in his recordings for Deutsche Grammophone) the tenor singing the role of Evangelist performed the entire piece from memory.
Thank you!
My pleasure.
