Luxman T-110 Tuner, eventually was modified by Don Scott…Pioneer TX-9100 Tuner in second system…
Through not technically “on the rack”, my house was built in 1933 and my ears and the rest of me in 1950.
On the rack is my 2004 NAD Stereo Tuner C422, which is used most every day tuned to my local NPR classical music station.
Thanks! I really can not remember much other than it had a second rod going to the end of the tone arm. My neighbor gave that to me along with a couple cartridge’s for cutting his grass for a summer I believe.
You’re welcome. A very close friend had the same turntable and if I remember right as the tonearm tracked down the record the headshell (or maybe the cartridge mounting) swiveled so it was supposed to present a constant tracking angle.
Exactly correct!
You are fortunate. NPR is “all talk” in Chicago, their largest market. Liked their jazz, Afro-Pop, and classical programs in the past.
Fortunately in the Chicago area there is WNUR, WFMT and WDCB. Things are shaking up at NPR and WBEZ, as listener financial support seems to be slipping.
Oldest item is my Rack itself!
Billy Baggs Rack and Amp Stands have been with me for about 15 years!
My 165 lb speakers are blocking entrance to the back of my rack. Luckily, Timbernation makes a very strong rack. So today, the oldest thing in (on) my rack was a 74 year old man climbing over it to troubleshoot my turntable motor controller.
26+ years old Musical Fidelity preamp and Amp. Still sounds great.
I am sad to say PST was my oldest, which is a bit less than four years? But next year I may sell it and DS MK2, then my oldest will be Grimm MU2. OMG, I only got it last year!
The oldest piece I have is my Magnum Dynalab FM tuner, which now goes months and months without being used.![]()
For 21 years, I owned a pair of Von Schweikert VR IV jr speakers, which I just traded in for the FR 10. My SOTA Turntable and Origin Live Arm are only a year or two younger. Finally I have the BHK preamp, which I bought shortly after it came out (10 or 11 years ago IIRC).
That should make you the winner of this thread, my friend. You beat me.
JVC QL-Y7 direct drive turntable from 1981. Still works flawlessly. Backup is a Denon DP-62L from same time period.
Your new home needs some new audio decoration, so you will catch up soon.![]()
My oldest stereo gear, based on when purchased, if one calls speakers gear, are my FR20’s. Bought a new MU2, used Levinson preamp, used CJ preamp, used Levinson power amp, cables, powerzone and a sub since the FR20’s.
the oldest piece of gear on my rack is a Linn Sondek LP12 I purchased new in 1975. 50 years up!
Still kick’n!
- Denon DP-1100 turntable : 1982
- M&K S1B/V1B Satellite/Subwoofer : 1986
- Mark Levinson No. 23.5 : 1995
MIne as well. It has been updated considerably, and it is not leaving me.
I realize now that my oldest component are my “prototype” Decware/Turning Point Audio HR-1 speakers–bought in 2011 and received in 2012. I have a production model pair as well, bought in 2013–the “prototype” are in my audio-visual system, the production model are in my main system. LOVE these speakers.
