Which Redbook CD did I enjoy lately?

From the Fritz Reiner and the CSO RCA Albums box set. Awesome!

Thank goodness my Dad loves Fats too as Fats is one of my favorite flavored chill pills, and I really need one after a few frustrating calls to medical offices.

Disc 1

Discovering Jose James’ work and liking it.

Fascinating, difficult music:

Looks interesting!

Right now, a favorite of Dad’s.

The precision of this playing amazes me. Great sound.

The Canadian Brass are extremely good.

Listening to them changes the opinions of many when it comes to brass instruments.

Yes they are excellent technicians. And they play excellent arrangements, they really nail that aspect.

Right now, Porcupine Tree’s best drummer leading big band jazz arrangements of Porcupine Tree material. Surprisingly nice.

The SHM-CD. This series of releases from Japan, celebrating the label’s 75th birthday, are addictive. I at first said I would only get a few. Over fifty later. . . I’m keeping my mouth shut about how many i might buy. (The music on these reissues is not new to me, but the mastering is and they are the best digital versions I’ve heard).

Wishing for somewhere warmer.
