Journeyman is solid.
Here’s to stupid. Cheers!
Wife and I went out to an early dinner in a suburb close to our house. Nice little whiskey oriented place. They bought a second restaurant just before the virus turned things upside down. Good people trying to make it. Hope they kill it.
Anyway, I’ve scoured the world looking for the perfect Manhattan. Vermouth is the toughest component. This is a really good Vermouth. The Manhattan was mixed with just midland rye whiskey (Templeton Rye), yet was really good!!
So funny you mentioned “scouring the world looking for the perfect Manhattan”.
About 8 years ago, I was staying in a wonderful little boutique hotel in Paris, called" L’Abbaye".
We were there in January and one rainy night, we ate in the parlor in front of the wood burning fireplace. I asked the barman, Deni if he could make me a Manhattan and he was over the moon, telling me that was his specialty and he made his own bitters. It was fabulous.
Last year, I was there again and so was Deni (!) and so were his Manhattans as good as I remembered.
Who would expect Paris?
I’ve taken to barrel aging my own. I have a batch that’s sat in a small charred Oak barrel (1 liter) for two weeks now. I’m gonna give it another two weeks. We’ll invite a couple over and drink them on the deck listening to music. It’s about the cocktail and the environment. You’ll obviously remember your Paris Manhattans forever, that’s what I’m talking about!
Depends on my mood. I prefer a good red wine, but sometimes I like to drink a few cocktails like pina colada, white russian or zombie. If I’m just hanging around with my pals, I’ll probably drink beer, Beck’s preferred.
In college, it was Purple Jesus. We made it in 55 gallon drums, lined with trash bags.
Their Ginger Beer is the best I have ever had.
The wife and I typically like bold Cabernet Sauvignons but we’ve been drinking this lately. It is available at our local Costco. It’s and excellent red blend.
I’ve had it. I like it a lot. Especially when someone else buys it. $48 here.
I’ve had “The Prisoner” here in Canada it was $49 Canadian. Good wine
It’s very consistent. One of the better aspects of a good blend.
Consistency is key. I’ve been drinking Daou cab as my everyday wine. Very reliable.
I gave my mother in law a bottle of this about 6 or so years ago, and she was alarmed that I was gifting her a bottle called “The Poisoner”
My eyesight sucks as well…
Beef!
Ron!
The man that is responsible for that (Prisoner is very good) is now making one called 8 Years in the Desert. It is also very good. I find the both similar.
