@jazznut Usually i set the crossover at 10khz for not overlaping the to main tweeter, just to pickup the high upper 12 khz, since ribbon seem to handle better the high frequencies with open and precise response
Installed Vicoustic Ultra Wavewood panels on the front wall between the speakers. Some immediate differences noted. Listening at higher levels now. Instrument separation is more noticeable unless I am imagining it …
Imagining is a low cost tweak that I hope everyone gets now and then.
Add in a dram of scotch and all is good
Woo hoo! Just ordered a Jay’s Audio transport!
Rega Aura MC phono pre sounds so good. Makes my Rega P10 sing!
Edit: oops, left channel just died! I am sending it back. I am so frustrated, I am removing the photo!
Serbian, that looks like a nice equipment rack! Who makes it? Timbernation?
Hi @tony22
These are carbonised bamboo, 40mm thick by Atacama.

Ah, Atacama! I had looked at these, but shipping to the US was a bit pricey.
After seeing @stevensegal 's office setup, it rekindled a project I had put on hold to refurbish my office setup for listening while I work. So far, that’s involved replacing a 38" ultra wide screen display with a 27" 4K monitor to make room for the flanking speakers. I’ve since moved a pair of B&W 6-series floorstanders temporarily behind the desk and hooked up the Sprout100.
The B&Ws are OK. They’re older, and certainly not remotely close the Stenheims, so I’ve been looking at different bookshelves… Wilson Tunetots, TAD EM1, Raidho C1.2s, ATC11, and a few others. They’re all interesting in their own ways, but I wanted to try something completely different from ribbons and dome tweeters…
The final verdict?
On a good friend’s recommendation, I have a pair of hORNS Atmosphere MK2 on the way. They’re finished in gloss on gloss black with gloss zebrano black sides.
(not actual photo)
A delightfully fun choice.
Still no Holo Audio May DAC Kitsume Edition yet.
But today my TechDAS Air Force Premium III with the Upgrade Black and real Gold Plated Graham Engineering Elite Tonearm with 10" Wand arrived. The Turntable, Power, Vacuum and Air Supply unit, Turntable Motor and associated parts came in one box that weighs over 100 pounds. A second box, which weighs in at 70 pounds contains the Gunmetal platter alone. Neat. The third box which feels weightless contains the Tonearm.
I was busy today so I just now opened the main box and placed the components on a table. The Platter is still safely in its box, as is the Tonearm. Lots to do.
I still do not have my Gryphon Pandora Preamp with the Legato Phono Preamp inside, or the $7000 cable that has a 5 pin din on one end to connect up to the tonearm and weirdo connectors on the other end to hook up to the Pandora. So even if I race or go slow, when I am done I cannot listen to it.
It’s like being in a room full of steak, expertly prepared, all out of reach. You can see it, smell it, damn near taste it but nope, no fork, no arms, just eyes.
First World problems to be certain.
I just added a PSA Perfectwave P10. I’m picking up a preowned Roon Nucleus and adding a Samsung EVO 2tb SSD HD and a Sbooster LPS to replace my stock Mac Mini setup for my music streaming.
I just upgrade the sounding part by replace the Monitor Audio Silver 100 with New Gold 200
notice that at 40hm Impedance of the Gold 200, it sounds not as loud as the Silver at 8Ohm impedance even though the sensitivity of Gold 200 is 88dB , 2 dB higher than the Silver 100 with just 86 dB
you know why it is?
This is the new upgrade
I’m not an expert, but if MA has quoted the sensitivity at 2.83V, the rating will be artificially 3 db higher for a 4 ohm speaker than if they quoted at 1W
See JA’s take here (different speakers but same principle)
4 ohm speakers require more current from your amplifier than 8 ohm speakers, generally.
Are the new speakers positioned exactly the same as the old ones were?
Congratulations. 4 ohms draws more current. The M700 can drive the 200 and the 300 wit ease. Having to turn the volume a bit higher is fine. How about clarity of bass and sound stage? @RonP, thanks.
Yes, i place the new gold 200 exactly the same position of silver 100, using same setup and just play to see the different, it sound less loud than the silver 100, i think the sensitivity are different, silver 100 just 86 dB at 8 Ohm and Gold 200 88 dB at 4 Ohm, so the more sensitivity should be louder with the same setup right ?
Congratulations Al! Take it easy. The world is short on electronic parts, so things could take longer.
sound stage is something … same as silver 100 ( at least now) since i used super tweeter to complement and add more air to the general sound with silver 100 setup, so hard to tell which one is wider. bass of gold 200 seems not as thick and deep as Rel T7i sub with silver 100. I’m finding the best position to place the new Gold 200 to see if any enhancement. I think i should keep the Rel sub in new G200 setup to complement the lower 30hz for deeper bass. G200 can not go deeper beyond 35hz
