I plan to, when my brother’s Esoteric N-01XD is more broken in and when he’s ready, to have him bring over the unit for a listen. I will use USB from my Esoteric N-03t streamer to the USB input on his unit, then I will use the Matrix converted I2s to my modified PS Audio DAC. It’s a extra Matrix converter and Dragon HDMI cable from my unit, but it should be interesting.
EDIT: Also I can use the built in server in his unit vs my stand alone server via USB with a Nordost Valhalla 2 USB cable. I suspect his built in server will sound better, but you never know.
Also we will test if his external 5 terabyte USB hard drive via USB, sounds any better than my Synology NAS via SR UEF Ethernet switch and WW Platinum 8 Ethernet cable. When I tried before in my system with USB flash drive vs NAS, NAS was hands downs superior!
I will post results for those that are interested.
Arrived today. Settling in very nicely. Another one arrives tomorrow. I’m a happy boy, but now I have to figure out how to trickle-down the cables that they’re replacing…
Incredible cables!! I am using three SR Galileo UEF power cables myself, one on my P-20, one on my preamp, and one on my power amp and they are the best power cables I ever heard.
One thing I’ve never understood with this type of power cable is the last 1-2" before the connectors the cable gets appreciably smaller. Why is it OK for the cable to be smaller there and not the entire run? What’s been extracted that’s no longer necessary the last 1-2 inches?
It’s clear that they do “something” to get the cables into the rear of the connector.
Some companies thin out the insulations on the ends to fit the wires into the connectors, but other companies make the connectors to fit the huge insulated wires like this XLO Purple Rush power cable. They just thin out the cable inside the connector for the connection. It really doesn’t matter, the Galileo still sounds better.
Agreed. The PSA AC-12 and the Stealth Dream’s are good examples of custom connectors.
I have been messing around with a solution for this with the cables I build for myself. I am close to a solution. When I have it solved I’ll share some pics.
Galileo UEF does not use tuning rings, they use air strings and active shielding. Whatever it is, it’s the most realistic sounding power cords I ever heard.
