I am a big fan of all the Symposium Products. (Platforms, Racks, and Rollerballs) The owner Peter is a stand up guy that provides great advice. He custom built my rack and at the time I thought it was an extravagant expenditure. In hindsight, I realize it was a relative bargain in the hi end rack world.
Part of my buying strategy (for everything) is to use craftsmen as local to me as possible and purchase direct from them if possible in order to support their efforts and help to give them as much of a boost as I can.
It is also reassuring to be able to communicate directly with the builder as it usually cuts through the extra layers of BS.
As opposed to unfair prices?!

For clarity’s sake, 
My brother is right, today I went over to listen to his Esoteric N-01XD Streamer/DAC, and it is very impressive! We compared it with his unmodified DS running Mac Mini > Audience FrontRow USB cable > Matrix > WW Platinum S7 HDMI cable > DS, and what I heard was the DS sounds a bit washed out. My brother said it was pretty close but I disagree, I hear much higher resolution and just more music coming out from the Esoteric. IMHO the DS didn’t sound so good next to the Esoteric. My brother is too humble with his DS.
I bought 2 of those discs years ago, and spent more than $24 total.

@waymanchen11 was it you who compared it to the Esoteric with the Modded DS and aid the modded one is better?
Yes, but my modified DS has the transformers, RF shielding on the screen, and M-1 fuse done. We did compare the unmodified DS with the modified one and it was quite a dramatic difference. My brother’s unmodified DS sounded quite veiled.
Also, I’m using Nordost Valhalla 2 USB > Farad Super 3 powered Matrix > AQ Dragon 48 HDMI > DS. which made one hell of a difference compared to just his Esoteric. Same WW Platinum Eclipse 8 XLR’s to the preamp with both units.
Did you skip the external LPS mod?
Yes, I got lazy. It’s sounding so good right now I’m not in a rush to change it again. Maybe later if the MK II don’t come out before.
I saw @jkrichards recently had a few more cards for sale, not sure if there are any left. If you haven’t gotten one, and are interested, I suggest you grab one.
I think I’ll pass on that. I’m working on my vinyl side right now. I waiting on the delivery of my Soundsmith Hyperion MKII cartridge right now and also waiting on possibly the upcoming Esoteric Grandioso T1 turntable. I’m deciding to go to the dark side (vinyl) for now.
That is actually a great plan; to get a Gryphon Ethos then you can buy dirt cheap CDs and they still sound like SACD in the alien UFO box.
I did not do ANY mod, because DS II came out last year as I was told two years ago. The reality is I am still waiting and still no MOD.
