Last time I bought from Patrick he was still using Sonarquest connectors. I looked at the Crossover II picture and it does look like the same connectors as Chris is selling under the Connex label but those still say Sonarquest. I suspect they all come out of one or two Chinese factories and if you buy enough they will “brand” them for you.
I have the 512 rhodium variant of these on a few cables and they’re pretty good – better than the other plastic Sonarquest or brass-based plugs in their price range. In the process of slowly upgrading the 512s to Furutech FI-48 (R) or ETI Legato (gold), and in those cases the increased spend is unfortunately worth it.
Those Connex carbon fiber rhodium do-dads are solid as well. Maybe better than the Viborgs, but I haven’t swapped back and forth to compare.
I plan to use the Viborg on an old Purist Colossus PC. The original plug looks real cheap. I will find out if they’re worth it. Furutech may be used in my more expensive cords later.
I replaced a broken ground with one of these. Less than 75 dollars if you’re a flyer.
Better sounding than the other cord Diamond Xtreme cord. Currently that other mate is sitting unused. Sounds better than the gold copper version on a BAV cord or the stock Furutech on stock Diamond Xtreme in comparison listening.
I did pick up RF shield of Al and copper foil and shield the plastic with metal for RF drain.
Thanks! This looks interesting, and the price is similar to Viborg. Jason has left The Cable Co., but I should be able to get some discounts.
Hmm, where’d Jason go off to?
The Puritan cables tick all my boxes.
For all the alleged technology involved in posh audio, the RCA sockets on my phono stage seem a little too small and cables are not tight, to the point that I lost the signal on one channel. You’d think this was sorted out by now.
I need a longer pair of RCA and wanting them with locking connectors, found myself on the website of Dr Sean Jacobs. He makes up sensible cables to his own design, depending on what you are connecting, with choice of locking plugs. He is also happy to reterminate my DIN/RCA phono lead that is not attaching properly. A couple of emails and all sorted.
What a nice chap. Custom HiFi Cables Ltd.
Hopefully he is still in the industry, but I wouldn’t know.
Bummer! Jason was my contact there and gave great support through a variety of audition and purchase decisions. I still have plans to eventually get to a Shunyata Denali 6000/S v2, but that’s not in my immediate future.
John is the new guy, and he seems okay.
My power cord is like ODiIN2 except a few more siver coated 7 9s copper conductors for even bigger diameter lower wire gauge net.
So far with wattgate silver connector it sounds better than any other cable on my preamp. Even al’s Stealth or base whispers with special black RF jacket and tuning ring. It was challenging getting all those conductors screwed down in yhe wattgate
The power cord I got is beefy, and it is time to use my long-lost handyman skill. I do have a screwdriver that I know how to use.
If the cord has silver coated OFC copper in it as they claimed, then I am in for a treat. You mean it could match (better? do not tell Al) Stealth? I have a lowly Dream V10, and you got me very curious now.
I will try both Viborg plug and Furutech 48 plug on the cord to see how much difference they make. This could be a better place to spend the money than a fuse.
I tried every cord I own and Al’s cord on that preamp. Most cords came up too warm and left out the inner details. Even with tuning rings. The Diamond Extreme did not like tuning ring either end. They were decent power amp cords but thw Whispers are best there. My HDPLEX300 LPS is another device that only seems to like one cable a too expensive cord steps it backwards. It never hurts to try.
The PS for the streamer is where I want to try this cord. The Purist with golden wrapper is sounding great there. I imagine these plugs will make a difference.
Oh man, if I hadn’t already blown through February’s allowance, these would be very, very tempting.
February allowance? then you can wait for your March allowance that is not too far away
If these last before close of business I will be shocked.
