Your Next Upgrade? (Part 1)

Aries G1 then BHK 250, then PS 12 or 15. I had an Aries G1 and loved it. Bought it used and sold it for the same price I bought.it 1.5 yrs earlier. using it’s wifi option simplifies set up with no compromises I only sold it because my MBL N 31 Dac has optically isolated streaming Room card built in.

Thanks for all your comments and recommendations. So far it appears that the streamer is the first component that could use an upgrade.

I would swap the M700’s for M1200’s.

When the time comes, I may look at the BHK 250 or look at Pass amps. The M1200’s are in the mix as well.

M700’s to BHK250

There was a rumour that Darren Myers is working on a new high end Phonostage to fill a gap in range above Stella, if so that’s my next upgrade to replace my NuWave Phono Converter.

This one is harder than it seems if I’m in your shoes. But IMO

  1. Regenerator
  2. Is a toss up between amps and Auralic

I’ve made the move from M700 to M1200 and it was big. I’m very intrigued by the Auralic and Sonore options for streaming.

I chose regenerator because it will improve all the components performance that plug into it.

I listened to my friend’s SF Olympica Nova 3’s last night.
Powered by Aesthetix Atlas/Calypso, Jay’s transport, Terminator dac
What a gorgeous sound. Same for the esthetics! You could build a great system around those speakers.

Thanks @RonP. I am still waiting for them to be delivered. Hopefully this week or next. Keeping my fingers crossed. Slowly and gradually I am getting there.

My gf was floored with the esthetics…“ooooo, we should get these!”

Hey Sohail…great question…as the foundation to our system’s
performance is clean power…

You already have very good electronics; so:

Trade up the dectet for a P12 regenerator…the difference will be night - day…
In my case going up from the PS Audio Quintessence which similar in function
to your detect is power conditioner to a regenerator did the same for me the wow factor was amazing.

The dectect cannot recreate a clipped ac sine wave…only a regenerator can.

Dectect to a regenerator upgrade…should go in advance of any other system upgrade.

Best wishes

Is it still true that Auralic doesn’t support DLNA SW like Jriver?

This is three years old but I have found it to still be true :frowning:

Bought two sets of these from a friendly, fellow forum dweller:

Going to install them on my Anthony Gallo Acoustics Reference 3.1 speakers.

Looking forward to it…

I’ve used Gaia’s on my last three speakers. All with good results. Their concept hasn’t been wasted. Wilson and Magico amongst others, now offer their own devices that mimic these at far greater prices.

Should be interesting…

I tried “misapplying” SVS Soundpath feet on my speakers in lieu of the factory issued spikes and discs a while back and the sound was decidedly worse to my ears. The entire presentation just got “mushy”, if that makes any sense.

The spikes/discs were reinstalled post haste.

I hope the Gaia’s are an improvement.

I’ll enjoy the experiment, in any event.

The SVS footers were a great deal and I used them on my SVS subs. But they’re really limited to subwoofer application. The footers to quote you are actually “mushy”. It’s softer foam that really only seems to work with some subwoofers

The listening room is in a state of flux.

I have a set of Townshend Podiums on the way. Size 2 D cells for the 150lbs each Stenheims.

I also have Al’s Holo May in hand. 500 hours of break in is needed, says Brett. Fresh out of the box, I agree it needs more time. Running with the 845, the highs seem contained but I think it would need ample burn in time with a SS amp. It sounds competitive.

The DSD and its Farad3 just moved behind a balanced isolation transformer. Blacks seem blacker. More listening required.

The BHK Pre and one BHK300 are on the way in for service to assess a channel imbalance in the Pre and ground hum between the two on RCA. The MastersounD Compact 845 is substituting in for integrated amp duty. It’s a very very good integrated after swapping in higher performing 6SN7 and 12AU7 tubes.

Tesla Solar and Powerwalls are awaiting permission to operate. Looking at the P20 logs, this hasn’t affected distortion very much. I’ve yet to see distortion straight off battery. Maybe I’ll run the house off batteries tonight to see.

I had dibs on those if you didn’t buy them. I have a foot fetish.

I have been warned that the all important rack shelf I have to have if the Pandora Preamp ever arrives has been shipped today. Noice.

And the Pandora is coming soon. Fun.

And I bought a Pink Faun 2.16 from a hooligan on this very board today.

What else. Back from Vegas, an amusing place, sound everywhere except for where you don’t need it.

And Vee, I learned you know something about updating a DSD…
