Just heard Fremer on a podcast saying he is a fan of 9 inch arms. Guessing he is using the 9 inch version of the 4 point
4pt 11 Review from 10years ago
Sorry my 13 years old self is dying…plus my last official title in the Air Force was Major Johnson.
Yea well, we are talking a Major upgrade in sound
Then there’s always this, Metaxis and Sins Ultimate loudspeaker - I wonder if the house comes with it?:
To each their own I guess… Industrial design by H.R. Giger?
Pretty much.
My next upgrade is coming in two weeks or less! Ted’s new mountain top firmware for the Directstream dac!
I wonder about the double d‘Appolito design on 10 and 30 ft height
That house would be a tad cold in winter…perhaps ok in summer…
But quite a bit of a challenge to treat acoustically…
would be fun to give a listen in that space as is…
Here’s a question I’d like to put to the group. Which one of the components (marked with an asterik) would you upgrade first? Thanks for taking the time to respond. Streaming 60%. Disc play 40%.
- PSAudio dectet (*)
- Auralic Aries mini (*)
- Arcam CD player CD72 (*)
- PSAudio DSD Sr.
- PSAudio BHK Pre
- PSAudio M700’s (*)
- REL S/3 SHO
- Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III
Easy - the Auralic.
I’d go for a Power Plant.
+1 on the Auralic to a G1 or G2.1
@dawkinsj You helped me find the used Aries mini. It is such a great streamer for the price.
Yes. At some point!
That it is especially in terms of what is out there in it’s general price range. I am still using mine in a system that I bought new. But in terms of the things you have listed with an asterik whichever source device you rely on the most would be my first choice. Changing out the Dectet won’t resolve source issues especially if you don’t feel you have power issues. If however you are satisfied with your sources my next move would be to the BHK 250. I’m just not one that believes a Power Plant is the first answer to all system upgrades and I own a P3.
Sources first, depending on your commitment to silvers discs. I’d go with a streamer upgrade first and replace the cd unit as funds permit.
The commitment to CD’s is there as well as SACD’s.
Personally I’d upgrade the Auralic to an optical solution from Sonore which would give you added isolation but have you considered adding a Matrix to the mix? That alone would most likely boost SQ significantly. “Alone” meaning with the appropriate LPS and HDMI cable.
