Omega?

sigma nr v2, I’d put it on the mkii

It’s definitely a plus that it is a v2 series. I had a v2 Alpha (actually bought from Ron) that bested a v1 Sigma on the same gear, a P20. I now have a loom of Dragons in place of Alpha v2’s. The AQ’s are better (they better be) but the Shunyata’s were no slouch. I would characterize their sound as as forgiving, relaxed, warm. I felt though this resulted in sacrificing some detail and dynamics. On the flip side, it’s probably an improvement over what you have and the MKIl will show it.

The v2 nr series really should not be used on a power conditioner or amp… The xc line of cables is a much better match for that purpose… and are not intended for any source components!

This is rare: I survived the temptation for now.

Understood. Shunyata XC design is best suited for amps and regenerator.

At the suggestion of the folks at the Cable Company, I am using Shunyata Delta v2 NR power cables on my M700 monoblock amps. As a further bit of info on the intended uses for Shunyata’s XC or NR power cables, here’s what the Shunyata website says about which applications are appropriate for which cable: “The Delta XC is an ideal power cable for your Shunyata Research power conditioner while the Delta v2 NR provides noise reduction for all of the source equipment like CD players, DACs, tuners, amps, and preamplifiers.”

Wow, I’m impressed!
No-wait–what do I care, it’s not my money. Buy it. You know you want to. :imp:

I shouldn’t have. . . but I bought a Bottlehead Foreplay III with some upgraded parts for a price I obviously didn’t try hard enough to resist. Having this with its dual outputs will allow me to shuffle around preamps and headphone amps so that I can still have a headphone amp in my main system when my SEWE300B arrives from Decware. (Without another preamp I will be unable to do so. . . and that’s the system that has the best potential for mind bending headphone sound).

I can’t help it. I’m a nutty audiophile and my wife has not yet figured out how to make me stop. And as long as I keep feeding her the right meals and paying commensurate attention to her . . .I’m enabled.

I had to look it up. “Foreplay”, great name for a preamp.

I believe some folks do recommend the v2 nr on class d amps…

Yes, what I think distinguishes this preamp is the use of a voltage regulation tube. . . I really like what Decware has done with these and the resulting sound and texture.

Nice summation of the Shunyata house sound, warm and forgiving.

I have found that Tiffany helps. My wife loves to see those blue bags.

My wife is not into jewelry. My system in place works. I’m sticking with it!

And at the same time detailed orientated(no brightness)with great bass definition…with a dead silent openness…that makes for a wonderfully organic soundscape!

Yes. I should have noted that Shunyata power cables excel in a blacker background. I was drawn to this as well as a desirable feature and it’s one the company touts. Omega Series cables have been getting some positive traction of late but I have not heard them. My overall experience of earlier designs with noise reduction was favorable, and the quietness seductive. Best for one to audition several of them (Cable Co.) before buying.

Also…when used in tandem with Shunyata’s latest power conditioners…the power cables really take on an even much more greater fidelity…that makes for a sum…much greater than its parts!
