What is the substance of the new update?
The release notes say: Fixes for reporting bit depth to DACs via Coax output and updated streamer version reporting.
Thanks. I just read the release notes!
How have you liked your Airlens? What did it replace? I ask because I had been considering an Airlens to replace my Matrix X-SPDIF.
Posted in another topic may last year.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing that! I’ve been very happy with my Matrix X-SPFID 3 feeding my MK2.
I love the Airlens, particularly with Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect! The unit replaced the Bridge II card in the DS DAC. Now I have the DS DAC II and Airlens. The sound was a significant upgrade in my system.
I would say the native software (mconnect) is lacking. The Airlens is great if you are just using it to render Qobuz / Tidal Connect or play a local library of flacs. However I can’t get mconnect to see the DSF files on my media server.
I am also disappointed in the app’s vtuner (internet radio), which does not pick up any flac streams, only mp3 streams and there’s no metadata (track info) displayed in the app. The Airlens seems like it was designed more for third-party software like Roon or JRiver than native app support.
Although it costs $50/year, or $200 for a lifetime subscription, JPlay sports a far better interface than mConnect, is updated regularly, and has no problem seeing and playing DSF files from my UPnP server. If you haven’t tried JPlay yet, you might give it a try; there’s a 14-day trial period before you commit.
