Am I using Sine wave or Multiwave?

My system has never sounded good without a bourbon. Fact.

I agreed, and I can do wine too. :wine_glass:

Your power plant probably needed a “walk in the park” to let
the meal it ate settle down before resuming a good performance :grinning:

P10

I have settled at MW6

FWIW

I just checked, I was on Sine and I just switched to MW 4 Phase 4. What should I listen for? (M-1 fuse)

In my system MW6 = less audible noise than SW.

I tested by checking various MW settings against SW by close listening at the loudspeaker “tweeters” without music playing.

I set the volume at my typical listening level with all associated kit turned on and no music playing; and then fiddled with the various P10 settings until I figured out the quietest combination of settings:

Low Distortion Mode
MW 6
Phase Tune 0

It is worth noting the audible noise would actually increase if the MW level was set above 6.

I can hear the sound change while pushing the screens from 1 to 4, mainly harmonics and overtones. Solo instrument.

Hey Al…

Listen for more “solidness with more meat on the bones” bass becomes fuller.
Conversely as with MW at 4 …presence top air diminishes
in my case significantly.

Unfortunately I have a number of thinly recorded mastered albums whose music
I like. With such albums depending …I start with MW 3 and work up from there
to see which setting is best to my ears wuth each individual recording…

This applies to the M1 fuse in my P15, to a slightly lesser degree as the M1 yields more
meat on the bones in the mid, lower mid and bass.

The SR Master tops it by far in my system.

Loads of fun…

Phase 4 I would need to look at it as I don’t recall…

Best wishes Al

Thanks wudai_e…

This is exactly how it is in my system…overtones with large ensembles,
orchestras as well.

for hot summer days, Phase Tune > 0 might help when the grid is heavly loaded.

Why would that be if you don’t mind my asking?

RSVP.

Does the type of amplification make a difference? For example, a solid state amp vs a single ended tube amp?

I used to use MW6, high regulation with my Gryphon Diablo 300 and anything less than that sounded dull and uninspiring. I have revamped pretty much everything since then, but never changed the PP12… played around with it yesterday and ended up at high regulation sine wave for my Coincident Frankenstein mono blocks. Still not 100% sure that’s the endpoint, but so far, I think i hear more details and a slightly deeper soundstage.

What’s the thoughts of the forum? Any insight? Or am I just nuts (and don’t ask my wife, she would just say I’m nuts).

I always liked sinewave over multiwave. Multiwave offers ability to recharge capacitor banks faster possible issue with smaller amps but seems to defeat purpose of avoiding jagged edge power being supplied. Multiwave always sounds rough and less natural than sine wave. Perhaps an advantage if you must run your amps flat out due to speakers of low efficiency.
