Yes that is the right stuff. One sheet. You only need about 3.75 or 4 inches by 8.26 inches for top of lid. It works very well on outside top cover like a 308 GTS Ferrari . But is a supercharged Lambo V-12 inside. Lol
Thank you. Order placed, let’s go tweaking again.
I don’t know your friend, but I don’t like him.
You have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee the worst that can happen is you’ll be $900 richer!
Hi Luca. I may have asked this question already. Are you using Audioquest Dragon speaker cables?
Hi Paul,
I use Dragons just for power cords, XLR (from DSD SR to BHK Pre) and HDMI.
My speaker cables are AQ William Tell Silver combo ZERO + BASS.
Thank you for the fast response! The William Tell silver series I hear is a excellent cable! It is the cable that Nick from TMR wants to buy for his speakers.
I’m so happy with these cables since 1 year. The only upgrade I can consider in future is the Iconoclast speaker cables. I’m not in a hurry… for the safe of my wallet!
You can always try flipping fuses in the Apex could be a chance they are wired differently than P20 for current direction.
The Apex also needs more time.
Did your friend hate the vinyl rig sound too? Perhaps it was just Apex fuses not broken in or directionally challenged?
From what @aangen has told me only his P20 and his Gryphon Ethos have the M1 fuses now. He is still roughing it now with his Gryphon Antileon EVO amplifier. No Apex yet. Sorry Al I feel your pain. Lol
Hmm, I don’t like what I’m seeing here on Analog. But it does seem to be consistent with what I’m reading into some other comments I’ve seen. Mine is still cooking in my P20, as my equipment won’t be set back up for another week (right now the P20 is powering a refrigerator), so I have no firsthand listening yet. But to be frank, what I’m drawing out of what I’ve read so far is that the M-1 may not be an ideal choice for HF “air” and spatial reproduction. But I’ll hear for myself in about a week.
The P20 installation of absorber under cover is easier than the DS DAC fuse replacement. After you hear what it does you will be wanting even more of the same. It really quiets down the noise floor.
I’m still enjoying my M-1 in my Coda 07x linestage. Although it has not increased dramatically in the parameters I previously mentioned… I feel it’s still worth the price of admission in relative terms…compared to the cost outlay for my complete system investment. As always though *ymmv… I have to mention also that the big bass slam from the first hours of listening has lessened somewhat as others have reported… but bass articulation and clarity across the board has been great. Now I’m thinking about fuses for my #8 amp…thinking the Purples in that position might make for a synergistic combination!
And…the moon is made of some sort of cheese…
Sure uuh ha
Best wishes
The second M-1 has been in the system for about three weeks, and today I can finally say everything sounds right. Don’t get me wrong, both M-1s in the system did not sound bad earlier, but this week it sounds smoother and neutral to my liking. In the first couple of weeks (they are around one week apart), the bass was bloated, the sound was sometime unbalanced, and the overall tone was too warm.
It takes three weeks to break in the M-1, or longer if I continue to hear improvement next week.
Thanks for the update! I’m closing in on a 100 hours on the M1. It’s sounding better tho I’m not sure I can say it sounds as good or better than the SR Purple at this point but the M1 is heading in the right direction!
I was expecting a more openness and airy I didn’t find, even if after 4 or 5 days the general feeling became really pleasant, with more detail and clarity. I suppose it would be as usual system dependent but my conclusions are that the M-1 can bring a warmer and detailed improvement, with more naturalness and realism, with best results in voices and instruments separation. Take into consideration I listen to analog and I have Class D amplifiers with silver speaker cables.
If you like airy, brighter and edger nuances is not ideal, if you are looking for a wider and deeper soundstage don’t expect this fuse can bring it to your system.
I like it and I keep it for sure, in my system in my room with my ears…
Give it another week and you should hear more, but I do think Purple may be, although sound a bit thinner, better in openness and airy area.
Hopefully by next week you are ready for the 3rd M king.
Those were similar traits to the Ultimate SHD Beeswax that came in my Holo Spring 2 and which is why I’m hesitant to try the M-1.
The Purple might have an edge to it but I like ‘open and airy’.
I couldn’t try the Purple in P20 because I went from stock fuse directly to M-1.
As for BHK Pre I prefer the M-1 vs Purple. I like more the “magic” it is able to provide to voices, it really seems to have the singer in front of you in the room, is engaging and relaxed and so much controlled. It sounds more “tube” like or analog, vivid and palpable, alive. Yes warmer, in a way I like it because fuller and pleasant.
Something similar to some kind of tubes like the Gold Lions. Where the background becomes silent, blacker and maybe this is the reason why you can hear better different instruments, their locations and clearer words of singers.
Purple seems a little bit more unveiled and open, bright but without this kind of “magic”. More digital and less analog, if I can say less musical or less emotional.
And I still have Purple fuses now in PST and SPP.
