Thanks much for the links and tips!

@DuneKidd that is so cool, I was living in Queens and working on Washington Square in “77”, the year Reggie was lighting up Yankee Stadium nightly. Homered on 4 consecutive swings against Sutton’s Dodgers that year in the Series…

If you’re going to get ejected, make it worth it:

Jomboy Media on Twitter: “Kyle Schwarber had enough of Angel Hernandez’ calls at the plate tonight https://t.co/kAaIWM1Hvi” / Twitter

Kyle’s still revered by Cubbie fans for his incredible performance in the 2016 WS. Can’t blame him on this one, the call by Hernandez was absolutely atrocious. All of baseball fandom can sympathize with Swarbs. No excuse for consistently awful performance by Hernandez behind the plate. Joe West Revision 2? Tell me it isn’t so. Heavy sigh.

It seems like Mr. Hernandez is the worst of the worst due to his consistency when it comes to having a poor strike zone.

I recall not liking how Big Joe West too often found a way to make the game about him, but I don’t recall him being so consistently bad at the “balls and strikes”.

FWIW.

Agree 100%

Would this be a good time for a poll?
Angel Hernandez or Robo Ump

Very cool. But someone will have to explain the NY Football Yankees Home Schedule.

That ‘78 season was one to remember as well, what a roller coaster ride that was.

Robo Ump. I thought I wanted human error for a long time, but instead I want strikes and balls to be accurately called.

Jeff Nelson called an awful game last week too. His numbers were pathetic.

“Impressive”.

Interesting to think how successful a pitcher like Tom Glavine would have been had there been robo umps. He made a career out of getting strikes six inches off the plate

Totally agree! I was a university student in Tucson that year. The dorm I lived in consisted of nearly 50% New Yorkers. There were at least sixty or seventy of us crowded around a 24" B&W TV in the common room through out the playoffs and the series. It was pure bedlam when they beat the Dodgers, who were also at their best in that series. The Bronx Zoo was at its epitome in those years.

Bucky Dent’s three run homer against Boston in the tie breaker game - spectacular!
It set the tone for the ensuing playoffs and series games.

According to my FB feed this is Joe Dimaggio, age 55, taking BP in an empty Yankee Stadium. Nice form!

Looks like its already “wait 'till next year!” season in Wrigleyville.

Kind of how the planned it I think. Contreras should be on the move soon. Feel bad for Ross. Known him since he and my son played high school ball together.

You can’t win them all, but I did develop “some” expectations with regard to improving the overall quality of baseball when the Rickets took over and looked like they wanted to benefit from owning one of the most valuable, storied franchises AND reinstate a winning tradition.

It’s looking more and more like my expectations were misguided.
