Yes thanks for the added details very insightful. Would be nice to know which input is playing. I guess subconsciously I was thinking that this was the case. This is good input to make this product even better.
My “new” MK2 came back with FPGA178 and 2.3.0. It worked great. I updated to 2.3.3 and it worked great too. I have been using both I2S inputs with PST and the streamer. I played Qobuz, Tidel, internal SSD, external SSD with PCM and DSD upto 256 without issue.
PST works fine too with CD, SACD, and Data discs.
(Sorry, this means to reply to all, not just to mkpirulo).

A question concerning the differing volume levels of MKI and MKII because I understand they are not equivalent:
First as there is no choice of DAC levels on the MKII, to get equal volume between the two DACs for purposes of comparison, I assume the MKI needs to be set set at the High level. is that correct?
If my MKII volume is at 40 what is the equivalent volume setting for the MKI?
Many thanks.
So - no preamp?
Excellent email, Aaron. Well done sir.
The Mk II is the standard 4VRMS balanced at full scale (100 on the volume)
The Mk I in high range is 3dB below the standard (6 ticks on the volume control)
The Mk I in low range is 23dB below the standard (46 ticks on the volume control)
When the Mk II is at 40, it will match the DS Mk I at 46 in high range or 86 in low range
[Edit- fixed the 86 instead of 106]
Those two look pretty comfy nestled together like that.
Thanks for the pictures.
@badbeef Correct no preamp.
@tedsmith Thanks so much for the extremely clear answer. However I was never aware the MKI could exceed 100 in low range.
Oops, I messed up I meant 86 instead of 106 (tho 106 is possible in low range) - original post edited. (20dB is 40 steps not 60, Oops.)
Thank you Ted. I will give that a try.
It seems unnecessary to welcome Barry. But, what the heck… Welcome Barry! ![]()
Thanks again!
@aaronm - I personally could not get USB 3.0 thumb drives (flash drive) to work with the MKII. I tried two different make/models formatted exFAT. I tried a USB 2.0 formatted exFAT and it worked immediately. This could be just me (not unusual).
This is exactly why I don’t like the choices given in input naming. It would be better if instead of SACD and CD they would offer PST, DMP, PWT or better yet give us the ability to type in our own choice like the mk 1
Agreed. But the process to do that is painful. Have you tried putting a complicated password in for the WiFi setup? Cuneiform would be easier.
Ted, I trieid PS audio USB Asio. No files we start up at all. I went back to WASAPI. I tried extending the buffer to 500 us instead of 100 us the default and still had the interrupted playback. I can play the single rate DSD from David Elias ‘The Crossing’ ok.
I agree. I don’t use the wifi I have ethernet available to connect for online downloads when they become available.
Oh I agree. I tried WiFi in the spirit of beta testing.
Good point I should try mine too.
