Congrats. How did you order after me but got it first?
I wonât have mine for a couple weeksâŚ.
I canât answer that but I am in CA. I also had a 1 day FedEx delay.
They do send email with tracking right?
Did you verify that you are on the latest FW and UI?
Yes, I received an order confirmation and then FedEx tracking when it shipped.
I assumed that it was current but here is what it shows: Firmware 2.3.5 FPGA: 179-Antero
âHouse?â Where? I see your point
I believe I read that @tedsmith is working on an update that may help reduce pops. I thought the dropouts had been resolved.
I should be getting my mk2 back soon. I will report if the dropout issue has been fixed.
Thatâs why I mentioned it. I am confident that both issues will be addressed with firmware upgrades.
I ran initially from the Matrix through i2S for the first week and did not notice either issue. I have been running straight USB from the Sonore for almost a week and this has happened a few times. I have not done A-B listening yet to see if there is much difference in SQ between USB and I2S but will soon. After that I can figure out which cable needs the upgrade and if the AirLens will replace the Optical Rendu as well as the Matrix.
What is this 3M absorber sheet mod? Is this applied on underside of the lid? Why is it necessary on an $8000 piece of gear to address alleged or apparent SQ issue?
Itâs not necessary
I was the one having an issue with biting highs I couldnât calm in my system after firmware 178. Few but me had an issue. The ones that did notice run solid state preamp and amps. The only two who have done mod is myself and @dchang05 It is all exterior applications of 3M AB7050HF. After next firmware burn in I will apply internal. It tames highs and increases soundstage depth in in our systems. It cost 80 dollars. I have used extensively in tweaks of digital and power hardware snd power cables
The material is used by many companies has a data sheet and is not audiophile BS.

If you will look in the center on the underside of your Kismet tops you should see that Klaus uses something similar. He just recently commented on it on AC.
A question that I have is this: I understand how and why the absorber sheets do limit electro magnetic emissions from certain components. My question is where are these emissions being blocked from going to?
In my system MK2 sounds great without 3M absorbent, but I found with the application it sounds better. In Whatâs with Mods with DS MK2 thread vmax gave a good explanation of what does it do. I believe it will help all audio gear with transformers and FPGA chips regardless of the price.
I took lid off my Lyngdorf integrated to add absorber. Guess what the lid was already half covered from the factory. It is a digital audio thing. I was not surprised since it had the blackest background I ever heard until I started tweaking with it.
They only limit if it has a conductive layer copper or aluminum. The ferromagnetic component absorbs and turns to heat. It limits RF into other circuits or components that add to the noise floor.
The integrated circuits and toroidal transformers are the components that emit RF and Electromagnetic Fields. Those that claim it is not necessary may be right for their systems or hearing ability. It really opened up my system. Those that donât believe place it on a power cable or DaC or Regenerator to my recipe Listen then remove.
Iâm not questioning the practice, and I do understand where the RF/Electro Fields are coming from. What I donât understand is where does the 3M absorber prevent it from getting to?
