That’s basically the same as I find it on my DMP …
The repeat has changed in the respect that it now shows when it is disengaged whereas with 3.06 it didn’t work properly. Repeat now mirrors the PWT.
I had many issues with 3.06 but only minor niggles with 3.07… It’s much more refined.
I find the sound quality to be much better…
Darn it. I’m trying not to buy an SD card til the final release. All this talk of improved sound quality is not helping. . . .
I will offer again.
Email me your address and my successfully used SD card with 3.07 on it will be mailed to you.

The key with the SD Cards…it works better if the card is completely wiped. I don’t mean files having been deleted (which only removes them from the FAT) I mean wiped. I use something called BC Wipe to completely wipe the SD card before I unzip the new code onto it. I have two SD cards. I have used only those 2 for all of the installs on the PWT, DMP and DSD. As long as they are wiped clean I have never had an issue over more than 30 installs.
Okay I didn’t realize that merely deleting doesn’t completely wipe the SD card free. Haven’t had any issues as of yet, but will not chance it in the future. Thanks.
In the notes Barry had said the screen brightness was an ongoing issue. I set my DSD to medium and DMP to low and they look equal. That to me is a very minor concern compared to the functionality issues.
Thanks.
Yes minor issue, and I didn’t realize that this was already acknowledged as a ongoing issue.
Jamesh - as a lifetime Mac user, it’s a rare event to have to unzip anything. I’ve never had to unzip any download of FW from PS. When I say “lifetime” I mean since ‘86, and I was born in ‘56. So not really : )
with 3.07 I have noticed that even after waiting for the 12 second load time I still occasionally get a 1 second slice of the beginning of the track a mute and than the track continues.
Kind of what I remember. Thought I’d mention how to do regardless. Haven’t used a Mac regularly in a while. As much as Paul hates Windows, we all use them here in the office.
For me, when you open a brand new DMP and put a disc in it for the first time and press PLAY, on both the remote and the touchscreen, and nothing happens. And further investigation finds that the ONLY function that works is tray OPEN/CLOSE, then to me that is a crisis and worth complaining about. If you feel I’m being negative about that, I don’t care.
You can’t leave the building !
Upon further listening, I can say without a doubt SQ has improved. Might seem somewhat minor when focused on with a critical ear, but the improvement is quite substantial when relaxed and just letting the music wash over me. It moves the SQ one step closer to the one thing my previous reference tubed CD player did very well, which is presenting a very natural and analog like sound. I think with the addition of a good tube preamp like the BHK, I’d be in audiophile heaven.
Remind me, that was an Ayon CD player, right?
Yes. it’s an Ayon 07s, which I ran directly into my previous amps, which were Channel Islands D-200’s mkII monoblocks. My new PS Audio DMP and DAC Sr. do almost everything better, run directly into my new BHK 250, expect for that extra bloom and natural timbre which the Ayon player had in Spades.
Spot-on… I have a Rega Valve Isis CD Player which has the sound you describe, the most musical and the best stand alone player I’ve owned, but the DMP & DS with the BHK preamp and 300s are a couple of levels above . I, too, find the 3.07 to be very natural and more valve like… It gets better as it settles, or should it be, the more you get used to it…!
@Brodric - I never used the word negative or made an accusation…just an observation. PS Audio bends over backwards to take care of their customers. Hopefully we can agree on that.
Just to be clear…you did use the word negative, and I interpreted what you said as being critical against me as being a negative person. I feel I have good reason to be negative about my DMP experience, however-so PS Audio are good at eventually making things right. As we all know, mileage varies depending how hard you drive it. Unfortunately I didn’t get to drive my DMP at all before it broke down. You only get one chance to make a good first impression.
Now I’m out of here. I asked @Elk to remove me from the forum system but he said it wasn’t technically possible to do that. 'Bye.
Nice setup. What speakers are you using?
I’m really enjoying my Von Schweikert VR 35’s, even more so with the PS Audio gear, especially after the last DMP update. I’m hearing subtle inflections in vocals and details in the music I haven’t heard before. This is my second DMP update, but the first one I’ve really gotten to soak in. The first update I was still in the early stages of break-in, and upgrading from Junior to Senior, so I was unable to appreciate any improvements in sound quality. This is quite a thrill, getting a free software update online, that has greatly enhanced my music listening experience.
Thank you Paul and company!
