Yup you can be sure of that. I don’t get any at start or between.
I was not given any details but was told an internal memo stated that fact and suggested to go back to 3.06 until 3.08 is released.
Paul, thank you for the reply. The DMP sound is stellar…but you know ‘the rest’. Since sacd is not a priority with me,or 5.1 for that matter,I will take a wait and see stace on your trade back offer when the time comes in late 19. If the new player can outdo the DMP in redbook… count me in.
Do we assume that the revelation about a bug in 3.07 was reported to you by someone in PS Audio’s tech support department?
Yes that is correct. I had called to pass on more issues that I had discovered.
Another issue to report. This one has been present in every version of code I can remember.
If you select REPEAT 1 track the track will repeat ONLY if you don’t try to rewind it at any point using the touchscreen. Say you’re using a 4 minute long track for setup. You get up to make an adjustment when the track is at 3:45 and you use the touchscreen to rewind the track back to 1 minute. When that track ends, it will advance to the next track and not repeat. Happens every time to me. If I leave it alone and let it play until the end of the track it will repeat. If I manually try to go back to an earlier portion of the track it won’t repeat.
In the grand scheme of things not a huge issue but kind of a pain sometimes.
" When we launch a new transport sometime in late 2019 it will not be able to play SACD. It will still have remarkable and unbeatable CD and data disc performance, but not what DMP has."
Are you also saying the new transport will not sound as good as the DMP? Or just that it won’t have the same flexibility to play SACD’s.
It was said that it will sound better than the DMP.
Quick question, do use the DS DAC? If so maybe ask to try the non sound checked version of the DS DAC FPGA software version 0.133 vs the published version 0.131. This solved ticks and pops from DSD files for me, but I do not have a DMP. I asked customer support for this version.
I’m sure since the DS screen displays 16\44.1 I downgraded to 3.06 and I get the same behaviour, I suspect it’s an issue with hybrid SACD. Any feedback from PS Audio?
““Are you also saying the new transport will not sound as good as the DMP? Or just that it won’t have the same flexibility to play SACD’s.””
I read on the forum (can’t remember the thread), Paul said that a new product would always surpass an older product. So, I reckon if the new transport only plays Redbook, not SACD, that Redbook in the new transport will outperform Redbook in the DMP.
I believe they have built and/or building an improved lens to be used in the next generation of players.
I might have read this wrong - but that was my understanding…….if I am wrong, then I’m sure Paul will explain and then cut me off at the knees
It’s a product I would interested in for my other, smaller system. I would still keep the DMP – that’s only if my DMP eventually functions as intended!
To clarify, Broderic asked me to remove him from the forum some weeks ago. While I can make a member’s account inaccessible to that user, effectively banning him, there is no reason to do so as Broderic was/is free to logon and post - or not -as he chooses. I also expected him to return and resume posting, as he did.
I do not delete posts unless they are offensive.
My hope is he will again be back in the future.
I do hope so.
Hi Elk,
I would like my forum name to be Philippe instead of Philippe J.
How do I do that?
Thank you,
Philippe
You are now Philippe!
Thank you Elk !
Philippe
That is a hard one to predict! The DMP designer did not know if the DMP would sound better than the PWT when it was designed. Time will tell but I find it hard to think that there is any more information on the Redbook CD than we are already getting from the DMP and Direcstream DAC!
I have hybrid SACD’s that contain Stereo DSD, 5.1 DSD and Redbook CD and they work ok when the DMP does not decide to play the DSD track downsampled to 24 bit 88.2khz. Is that what you mean by a hybrid disk?
Ted, in another thread (regarding the next DSD DAC update) was asked if he believed it is something inherent in the DSD firmware that is also causing similar pops/ticks in the DMP.
He stated this, “ I’m pretty sure the pops that most people are talking about on the DMP are a separate issue.”
Any mention yet of the price of the new transport? I’ll definitely be interested if it out performers the DMP, and it’s within my budget.
Don’t care if it doesn’t play SACD’s, as I have very few of them, and CD SQ even on the DMP is very close to SACD anyway.
