I’ve noticed play or the direct track number buttons both work the first time around. If you stop a disc or finish playing a disc all the way through, I’ve had luck pressing stop and then pressing play to restart a disc. Once the disc starts playing for the second time, the direct numbers work again as well. Pressing stop then play appears to be the key for replay.
I also tried that but that doesn’t work for me. Don’t know how it should be at this moment. It is not finished. Maybe MattC or Paul can give an answer.

Be sure to go to the Setup screen after applying the update and check that the Firmware version has changed to V2.08. I had to go up and back 3 or 4 times before the update changed the Firmware version. Each time changing versions, the power light blinked for about a minute and then went through Initialization as if the update was being applied, but the first couple of times the Firmware version still said V2.06 instead of V2.08. I also noted that after the updated, my screen brightness went from Medium back to High.
So far I have tried a DVD-Audio disc and getting past the opening menu sound effect to the music did not improve and the track forward button takes me back to the start of Track 1. That could be because the track list only show 2 tracks, although I could have sworn that I did track advance successfully before the update.
It also looks like the Playlist has stopped working again. I played 3 discs before doing the firmware update and only the first two are showing in my Playlist. Nothing updating on my Playlist since I did the firmware update.

I have the same issue but it was the same with .06 as it is with .08.
If you pause a disk it will restart. If you hit the stop button, it will not restart unless you eject and then reinsert. My guess is that when you hit stop, it forgets whatever it read when it says it’s reading and it needs to reread whatever it reads when it says “reading”.
The thing I don’t like is with .08, now a message comes up that says “be quiet, I’m reading”, just like Miss Crabtree the librarian.
Installed 2 .08 without a glitch. Thank you PSA for eliminating the “coursing wave of brightness” that has been a issue with my new DMP from the get~go. If I could dream…I would also like to see matched high, medium and low dimmer settings between the DS and DMP.The unit seems to be a bit more responsive/quick to remote commands but not out of the park yet…
Aside from the sound quality improvement, 2 functional positives reported there…indicates they are heading in the right direction, thanks!
I have been playing with this and I found that after hitting Stop, it will start playing track 1 after hitting Play, but without sound. If I select a track from the track menu on the screen (other than track 1, while stopped), it will start playing that track with sound without having to eject the CD. I have also gotten it to play with sound again by pressing keys on the remote, but haven’t found a pattern yet. I have even gotten it to where it displays a track higher than 1 but is playing track one. This seems to correct itself once I select a different track. Clearly there is still work to be done.
I even had one point where the display showed something like Surr: 00 between PCM and 44.1k/16 on the display, but I haven’t been able to reproduce this. If I do, I will take pic.
I seem to be hearing a change in sound, but I haven’t listened enough yet to tell what it is that I am hearing.
Track menu?? I’ve never seen this on my DMP’s screen. How do you access it?
Wait, never mind I see what you’re referring to. I was thinking it was maybe accessible via the remote.
Touch the three lines left to the stop touch button. On the screen.
What andolink wrote is a way to play the disc with sound and without opening and closing the tray.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. As I mentioned this is only an interim version but we did want to show progress and make sure you all know we’re hard at work getting it better.
Same thing here - the screen shows the disc details and the scrubber bar starts the countdown and there is no sound. Stopping the play and opening the door and closing it - I get sound on pressing play.
For some reason I can’t get the DMP to update. I insert card, toggle rear power button to off, wait 10 secs, power back on and it just goes through “Initialising” again, no blinking light for download. Any suggestions?
i just did mine. turn the unit off before inserting the card. then turn it back on. once initialized, take it out.
Still stuck on 1.94. As I mention above the blue light does not flash when I reboot.
what a nice surprise on a Sunday morning to have an update for the DMP. update went off without a hitch. the last disc i had played yesterday was a decent cd by Marti Jones called Used Guitars. really liked the LP from years ago and so got the cd. however i had been tempted to give it away as it was a little too bright and jangly. not anymore. played it right after the update and asked my girlfriend her opinion and her first comment was that it sounded smoother. yes indeedy it did, but also more nuanced and detailed. the third song i would skip because it was too bright. now it sounds great. the entire cd was more coherent and more balanced top to bottom. sort of like a mini red cloud update.
I did run into the issue of having to open and close the drawer to get it to play after it stopped or i hit stop. as long as you pause it, you can go back to it. otherwise just hit the button on the remote to open and close the drawer. not a biggie but worth noting.
I suggest reformatting the card. Then make sure the updated files are on the root of the card.
Here is some information on SD card, click.
the files have to be unzipped before it will work. i downloaded the update to my computer and then opened it. then i cut them and pasted them into the SD card
my thoughts exactly. only played one disc (see above), but it was a different musical experience.
Got it. Idiotically for some reason I created a folder “DMP2.08” on the disc and loaded the files into this, Doh! Nver done that before for downloads. Don’t know whatposessed me.
