I picked up the Aurender N200 about a month ago and have really enjoyed it with my MK1 dac. i just received my MK2 yesterday and have to say the N200 and MK2 sound absolutely beautiful together. I haven’t left my listening room in 9 hours…
I have one as well. Currently using a WWSS7. Will switch back at some point to decide which I like better
That was me yesterday
There is absolutely no limits on how good the MK2 can sound!! I just got the final SR Galileo SX power cable for my Esoteric N-03T streamer and the sound took another jump up in performance! The density of images, the huge soundstage, the 3D dimensionality, the separation of images, the air, the organic natural textures of images, all sounds even more real. I also have the SR Galileo’s on my Esoteric preamp, power amp, my P-20, and the DS MK2, so full loom. I’m also using the ChordMusic USB cable into MK2, in which this cable sounds simply incredible in itself. You really have to hear this USB cable to appreciate what it can do. Even my Valhalla 2 USB cable is no match. Playing excellent DSD 256 files is really getting pretty competitive to my vinyl in musical involvement! This MK2 just gets better and better all the time! It is so responsive to better equipment, cables, and tweaks.
Im using the Curious evolved USB with great results. I also borrowed a DCS Bartok from my local dealer to compare. I’m no professional reviewer and I know everyone has their own opinions and tastes, but I personally prefer the MK2. In my system it’s much more relaxing, if that’s the right word. I just enjoy the sound of the MK2 and have been able to sit here for hours looking forward to each next song. To me the Bartok got a bit fatiguing after a few songs.
Congratulations!
Thank you Serhan. Yes, I tried many cables and power cords and find the SR Galileo power cords like Esoteric equipments compliments the DS MK2 perfectly. The DS MK 1’s freedom from making everything sound hard, harsh, and fatiguing was what drew me in the first place. The MK 2 took it to another level and even more (for want of a better word) analog sounding. The resolution is simply astounding! With the right cords and cables, it just enhances the DAC’s virtues even further. Waiting for the TSS, but I really can’t imagine it can sound much better than this.
Getting a much bigger power supply in a separate enclosure will make a difference as I found out with the Spring 3 KTE and the May KTE. How much of the difference you hear will depend on the rest of the system. I imagine that the basic sonic signature of a Ted creation will be much the same just more with better parts and the separation.
Excellent to hear. More and more impressed with MKii as time goes on
That’s not a bed frame support and cheap Sorbothane isolator supporting that power cable connection. But it still warrants my stamp of approval! Enjoy!
i also have an SR Galileo on my DS Mk2 DAC. Purple fuse too.
Inspired by your feedback and based on my budget, I ordered two Atmosphere SX Euphoria power cords .
The AURALiC G1.1 streamer/server is a sweet match with the MK2. I was using the Nuprime stream 9 via I2S Dragon and before that a Node but I needed storage to play DSD so went with a 1 box solution via a Transparent Premium usb cable with great results. The G1.1 has a totally separate output host on its own LPS. I have about 6 hours on it so far and is another level up streamer. Detail I have not heard before and more meat on the bone midrange and upper bass. Voices and pianos sound amazing. Will take about a week to break in. This is another testament on how great of a Dac the MK2 is, Ted is a genius!
I am in the process of changing out the Node for the iFi New Stream.
Observations? Advice?
(great presentation in photo)
That’s a pricey USB cable.
While USB connection is mentioned often in the forum, I have heard Paul noting that USB is a “terribly noisy” connection.
I must have misunderstood, or maybe he was referring to USB from computer to DAC.
What a great, “clean” set up!
Love the rack…
Enjoy.
USB is the noisiest input in the MK1 and didn’t sound as good as the I2S which is why many people use a USB to I2S converter to get better sound. That is no longer true with the MK2. In fact, the USB in the MK2 is as clean and noiseless as the I2S and I find the Matrix USB to I2S converter can actually degrade the sound depending on the resolution of the system. I prefer going straight to USB in my system since it sounds less distorted than using the Matrix converter.
I have tried many USB cables and they all sound different and some are better than others. The WireWorld Platinum S7 I thought was better than AQ Diamond or Cardas. The Audience FrontRow is another step up in clarity. The Shunyata Sigma and Omega is also very nice. So is Nordost Valhalla 2. Finally I got the ChordMusic which shocked me on how good the USB can sound.
Thanks scotte1, Timber Nation built it to my specifications. It takes awhile but totally worth it. They even send you pictures while they are building it. 2 inch thick tiger eye maple shelves. Hard to see it good with my phone camera. I’m totally against stacking expensive equipment. Each product should have its own isolated home
Timber Nation had a fire and have temporarily ceased production. They should be back up and running fairly soon. I recently talked to them about sub platforms (didn’t buy because of the wait). Great people to deal with however. Hope they fully and quickly recover.

Very unfortunate
