DSD Mk II - What Streamer?

It is unlikely Lumin U2 will surpass N20 in SQ. I am waiting for a review from the big ones to confirm that. Thanks!

" It is unlikely Lumin U2 will surpass N20 in SQ."

Well that is pure speculation…

Purely based on price points of course. It’s a no brainer which to choose if they are close in SQšŸ™‚

Are you referring to some reviewer? or some publication? I’m curious to read what review too.

It can be from any. The reviews so far just said it is good. But it is more meaningful if there are reviews to compare it to a topline streamer such as Aurender N20 or N200.

I should add from reputable publications or reviewers.

Trust your ears. You can hook up both, listen to one for a week or so and then listen to the other. Rinse and repeat. Decide which one gets your emotions going, which one gets your toes tapping.

Have fun!

Another Lumin U2 review:

Let Google Translate be your friend.

Certainly. There is talk about doing the beta a little differently for the AL but we’ll keep folks informed when we know more.

I may stop by to pester PS Audio this coming Tuesday and ā€œbetaā€ that AirLens in person. As much time as I spent in Schaumburg A (mainly catching up with Frank), I never had a chance to sit down and give the system a listen.

Still have pizza coma?

Auralic Aires G2.1 - very happy with it - not priced/same league as some of the other streamers mentioned, but so happy now with sound via USB w/ Mk2. Wifi interface is great, and has never been an issue. I can add a 2TB SSD HD inside unit, but from what i read it is noisier than external drives. Any good suggestions for Powered USB SSD HD units?

According to @waymanchen11 : ā€œuse a Yottamaster dual hard drive with two Samsung 8T 2.5ā€ SSD’s connecting with a Valhalla 2 USB cable (and yes, the cables do matter) to my streamer and I swear to god, the hard drive is much cleaner and clearer sounding."

Myself, I just have one 8TB SSD drive… but three back-ups offline spread across extra 2TB SSDs and some 4TB USB spin-drives.

Still looking for a convenient extra-solar back-up location in case of gamma ray burster

My Yottamaster’s USB connector broke and fell out. It is not very high quality, but it has two slots for RAID backup which I think you should use another box for backup anyway. I am using the single slot OWC Elite Pro right now and I think it sounds better. What really surprised me was when I use the 12v iFi Power Elite instead of the wall wart, It sounded quite a bit better, although the Power Elite cost much more than the OWC. The OWC only cost $47. So now I’m using the OWC with one 8tb Sumsung 2.5" SSD and my system has never sounded better. And yes, you can plug in a 2.5" SSD in the slot of the OWC, it will work.

thanks for advice - OWC sounds like the plan, price is right too. not sure about those 8TB drives, i dont need nearly that much, and even tho WAY cheaper than in the past, $500+ for drive is more than I need.

Hmm, SteveHuff tend to be over ethusiastic about his gear but looks very interesting regardless.

wow, that thing looks amazing. hadn’t heard of it before, thanks for posting

most surprising was he said the built-in app was better than bluesound OS, and in streamer performance it matched lumin u2 mini, dang!

mqa, wifi, dsd512, roon ready, ess9038q2mx2, tidal connect, amazon music, qobuz, bluetooth, airplay2, 6" touchscreen hi res display with artwork or meters or …, … amazing value for under $1k

Checked the company’s website, there is no stock availabe. So, I’m taking the review sample with a big grain of salt. Could be an engineering sample with juiced up components vs the production unit.

Should have posted my comments on the Eversolo dmp-a6 in this post…

I haven’t seen any US price anywhere. Still to early I guess. The game breaker I’ve been looking for? No choice but to wait until details become available.

Smart marketing. Hitting all the leading YouTube and reviewers. Let me correct myself, I do not think Amir is a lead reviewer but he has many followers who will buy what he blesses. Mix that with the price they will sell many.

What does this mean?

It says it support DSD multi channel, but then says ā€œexcept for the support of native dsdā€ which is it? is it just bad English? That would be something if it could stream that. Almost worth trying if I could do my mutlichannel DSD to my Anthem.

The English chap, Cameron Oatley, called GoldenSound, has a lot of good things to say about their DAC. £600 / $700

He’s a good guy - detailed measurements, properly analysed and subjective assessment as well.
