DSJ Bridge II Roon Issue

Not surprised but since I don’t use Roon didn’t know for sure. Just know where I find him if I need him.

Is Lumin your recommendation?

Philippe

I answered this in another thread but bottom line is if you are going to buy a Nucleus+ for storage and the CD ripping is not important then all three of the major brands have their positives and negatives. But if support from the company and other owners is important to you then Lumin would be the easiest choice. If you are fully confident in your own skill set as it relates to streamer hardware and software then it comes down to looks, app and features that appeal to you.

I’m on Roon daily…Peter weighs in there and answers questions. I don’t have any Lumin equipment, but I’m impressed when company reps are present on forums/sites, and aren’t pushy about selling their wares, and present a source of support.

Thank you @dawkinsj.
I will try to find a demo Lumin.

I have always been impressed with how Peter goes about his business. I have communicated with him many times by pm and e-mails and he has always been helpful. He is more than willing to even help the owners of Teac and Esoteric devices that use a version of his software.

@Schroedster Hi - thank you for your efforts. Wondering if the new firmware fixes the known 3.6.17 bug with Roon streaming hi-res PCM. If you pause a track, restart it, then pause it again, you will get a very loud scratchy tweeter-blowing pop when Roon terminates the stream (about 2 or 3 seconds after hitting pause.). A similar pop will happen when you restart and the bridge stays this way until you flush it out with some CD-res PCM. This only occurs with hi-res PCM on 3.6.17.

I have 3.06 loaded and fortunately I have rarely had had pops, scratches and other detritus. Now when I stop playing a Roon track I hear a scratching noise about 2-3 seconds later. The volume won’t damage anything but it’s definitely there. I’m surprised that these artifacts creep up in what should be a mature release.

Testing so far indicates that the new firmware eliminates the scratchy pop that you get when you pause and restart hi-res PCM. I think our engineering team is putting it through its final paces and we’ll hopefully have it ready to launch soon

Is that also true for the bridge2 into the DSD sr?

Yes, the fix will apply to the Bridge II in both the DS Sr and the DSJ.

Thanks. What’s your estimate on release date?

I checked in with the team and we don’t have a release date set yet. So far it looks like we’ve found a fix to the PCM issues described, though we’re seeing if we can also rope in a fix for the popping on DSD tracks that some people have experienced as well as a couple other fixes before we launch the update.

Awesome - thank you.

Still waiting. What is the status of the fix?

It’s scheduled for next year :smiling_imp:

Sorry, I made a post in frustration, I know PS Audio does their best at dealing with issues that arise, I actually believe, that is a strong point for the company. My apologies.

Sorry about the delay Kyle. Our CS guys are definitely not to blame here. The engineering team is still trying to iron everything out. We’ve been testing this one like crazy and it’s still not perfect. Thanks for your patience here.

And we’ve posted what James has said several times on the forums, though I can understand how they are easy to miss in these most lively of topics. They tend to get buried.

He acknowledged it last week when another member was told by mattc that the fix sent over from Conversdigital was not complete and needed more work. What the reason for today’s posts are only he knows. This was his response to Matt’s post.

“Ha, funny, I could’t get a response, but pbphoto is worthy! LOL”
