Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

A fair, direct response.

There is a known DSD white noise issue with the DS MkII I have it with the ES and with the Holo Red and reported it to @tedsmith on another thread

I’ve been experiencing some difficulty logging into Qobuz via the Eversolo app. Getting an error message. Sometimes it might take six or seven attempts to get in. Anyone else experiencing this?

So I’m loving this thing. And am getting on a flight in 2 hrs. Coming from jriver on a laptop w fidelizer and playing off hard disk - I find the eversolo to seem more spacious / more depth / more sparkle up top/ with more jump - just streaming high res off Amazon. Bass - I have to do an A/B there. And I find it to be quite fun. Only using Wi-Fi. Will have to play around with my local library and see if there is break in or anything going on. Can anyone comment on sound over Wi-Fi vs local library or Ethernet?

I have just been using mine with WiFi. No desire to try Ethernet as there doesn’t seem to be a need.

But Al then you can’t argue over which Ethernet cable you would use.

Or all of the other non-necessary bits and pieces you don’t need with a strong and stable WiFi connection.

Just ordered the A6 for that very purpose…one for the lady.

My new A-6 is evidently sending a more pristine digital signal to my DAC than I’ve ever experienced. My DAC seems to be transformed. The end result is I’m revisiting albums on Qobuz that I’d previously dismissed and I’m enjoying them with new ears.

Thanks @2muchgear! I missed that conversation somehow. I’m searching for it, but still don’t see it.
If you can find it again, send me the forum and position, please.
I’ve heard of the ā€˜popping’ and dropout problems, but I haven’t experienced any of those.
Using the iFi NEO Stream via USB, DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256 files play perfectly, so this must be some interaction between the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition and MK II…or the Eversolo actually has a problem.

Check out any of the MKII threads. Mostly what is happening when playing one format DSD to PCM (any rates of either) it can make a pop sound from the speakers. Just swapping formats seems to cause it. If you pause before swapping it does not happen. The later versions of the software have minimized it, but still there. I believe Ted is close to fixing in next release. I believe all the streamers do it.

Have you played the same tracks you are having an issue with via the Mk II using the DMP-A6’s internal DAC? If so are the results the same or is it only a problem if using the Mk II. If the internal DAC plays the files with no issue then the issue is either with the Mk II or the interaction between the Eversolo and your external HD.

Even though I don’t plan to use the internal DAC at all, I did try this test and it plays fine.
My local .dsf files are on NVME storage attached to my NUC Roon CORE, so I am not using any SMB or NFS connection from the Eversolo to play them. So, I doubt that is the culprit.
It does appear to be some interaction between Eversolo and MK II. Eversolo has already said they don’t see this a ā€˜their’ problem to work. I get that, but since both my iFi NEO Stream AND my Musica Pristina ACapella III work just fine, it’s the Eversolo that’s going back.
I’ve got another 15 days to test before I have to return it. But unless there is new firmware from PS Audio in that time, I’ll be returning it. Frankly, between the iFi NEO Stream and the Eversolo, the streamers are very close. Additionally, the iFi has I2S out, which Eversolo doesn’t have.

I experience white noise playing DSD files from Roon to the DSMk2 whether I stream thru the Eversolo or the Holo Red. I think it is the USB on the DAC causing the issue. I do not recall it happening with I2S (from Holo Red). It is much more frequent with 208-Antero than with 198-Antero FPGA code.
Frankly, this should have been resolved months ago, I have had this issue for 4 months now, unacceptable for an 8K DAC.

I would think it has nothing to do with the eversolo and is an issue with the MkII? The MkI doesn’t have this issue btw.

I can’t recall how many times I wanted to jump on the Mk2 wagon but problems like this keep me away. It’s also odd that not everyone experiences the same problem Hopefully PSA figures out all the inconsistent problems with MK2.

Well, interesting that you would read this that way.
As I stated, DSD 256 plays perfectly on MK II with TWO other DACs that I own, including the iFi that is exactly same price range.
I’m not sure how you can state this is a MK II problem not Eversolo. Evidence would actually indicate otherwise.

Maybe you see it that way. Most of the rest of us, not so much.

I have hooked up two very different streamers with same result. Pops. Eversolo coming next week so I will let everyone know if pops follow that too. It does not come up often but when it does it’s quite annoying. I hope it’s solved soon. I am not sure anyone with any streamer has not reported the pop when swapping formats on the fly.

My experience with the Eversolo DMP-A6 standard edition. It is very good. I actually preferred it using the internal DAC for some reason. It could be a setting that I messed up but it sounded lean coming out of USB and AES. The internal DAC is pretty impressive. I still think my Aries G2 with Horewege power supply was superior sounding. The Eversolo does sounds great with Qobuz! If you buy one you won’t go wrong. It sounds better than a $900 component and the display is great! I prefer the Eversolo display over the Auralic Aries.
