Well i did the 2.5.1 upload and latest FPGA. Have not heard a sound since. More than a bit frustrated after 2 hours of fiddling. The signal gets a green light to USB on mk2 display. Fed by Roon from Bacch4mac. However it outputs no sound. Not sure what to do next back to 178. Or try the old i2s equipment of Sonore UltraRendu to matrix the MK2.
Any advice from anyone who hit similar constraints. I skipped two firmwareâs after 178 thinking things were not fleshed out. Appears number three is more harm than charm.
Not sure if this applies to you but werenât there issues with the Fixed volume being set to 0 after the update ? I think it was around 200 posts back .
Yes, as paul56 said, you may have to change the max volume, the fixed volume and the volume. The update tries to preserve the userâs options, but didnât do a great job this time. You should check every option you care about.
Thanks I forgot about reading that. Likely the reason for my disappointment. I went through the wheel of misfortune selector buttons trying to find anything that I could try. I didnât recall seeing that option. Though I managed to change firmware and FPGA software easily I never found the fixed volume in my previous non intuitive search attempts. Someday I hope for divine enlightenment on the menu structure but despite my best tries fall into nonsensical do over loops.
Audio Input has the volume stuff.
Great I canât sleep until I try it now! Time to get out of bed and retry before I lose sleep eith the frustration.
No luck. I managed to somehow inexplicably set fixed volume to 100. But damned if I could navigate to max volume menu or even find it. Best to try in the morning. This control menu sure needs a no brainer cheat code. I canât find my way back into Audio Input after succeeding once.
@Vmax Itâs actually in the âAudio Outputâ section. Itâs easy enough for me to do, so just to help you out a bit, I laid out the procedure you need to follow to get your sound back below:
- Hold the menu button (on the left side of the screen) for a few seconds to get into settings.
- Hit the right arrow five times to get to the âAudio Outputâ menu.
- Hit enter.
- Note the first item should be âFixed Volumeâ.
- Hit enter again. Then tap down arrow down past zero so that it reads âOffâ.
- Wait until youâre out of settings. Repeat steps 1 through 3.
- Hit the right arrow one time, and you should be at âMax Volumeâ.
- Hit enter again. Then tap up arrow until you get to 100.
Thanks so much for adding clarity to this sub menu structure. The button press randomness is where where I seemed to flounder. Having buttons press counts greatly reduces my navigation frustration.
Since 2.5.0 I no longer have XLR1 or XLR2 on inputs. I only have Dual XLR. Factory reset doesnât fix this problem. I cannot use XLR.
The weird part is that it is listed if I select rename input however itâs never listed as an input.
So fixed volume needs to be off then set volume with remote? I still get silence with either fixed volume set to off and remote volume off. Or the other way around using fixed volume set to 100.
Note max volume is 100 in both attempts. I can tell the bacch4mac is sending musical signal.
@tedsmith is there anything else could be causing no sound output?
A factory reset should fix that. (Last entry on the âSystemâ submenu.)
A factory reset may help here too. What is the volume on the display?
It is at 100.
Did you adjust the volume manually as well?
Will I still have to reperform volume sub menu settings again and ground lift after factory reset with 2.5.1?

Please check the settings on volume in the submenus (again). I had a little struggle with these myself, doing the upgrade.
Thanks Ted however I did the factory reset several times. This is also suspicious as after the factory reset my settings did not change.
The front standby button double blinks several times and the DAC reboots and retains all my settings.
