The voice of reason is always so refreshing.
You are not alone.
If I decide to buy a Mk2 itās going to be next year , 2024⦠Iād love to read a review between Chord Dave or Hugo TT2 and PSA MK2
That temporary status may not help so muchā¦remember how the Mk I improved with firmware updates.
Hi, no ticks or pops using the Lindemann Limetree Bridge II coaxial output into the DS2 across different sample rates. Very thankful for that!
with my unit it does not matter what source/set up
Is there a new USB driver for the MK2? I could only find the old one for the MK1.
The Downloads section of the Support menu here at PS Audio has a Drivers tab. There youāll find the WindowsĀ® USB Driver Bundle. In that file are the old and new Windows USB drivers with instructions for installing each.
Iām reasonably sure that those are the drivers Iām running. If the name of the USB device in Windows is āPS Audio Extended Resolution USBā you are fine. I just verified that I can run DoP256 with those drivers.
The drivers work on my laptop when using most programs I tried except for my Room Tuning Software called Focus Fidelity. Its an issue I have a ticket in with PS Audio. I can put a DDC in-between to fix for now, but not something I want to live with forever. But windows itself saw the DAC super easy.
I did a little rooting around and indeed these are drivers built way before the MK2 was released (10-2021). Could this be some of the issues some might be having?
Why would the drivers need to be build after the Mk2 was released? The USB hardware we are using is used in some previous (but relatively new) PS Audio products. One issue was that the lower resolution driver for the USB hardware was initially released with the Mk II and it needed to be replaced with the higher resolution driver. But I think that that driver was also available for a period of time before the Mk II and thatās whatās in the download package.
OK⦠Thatās why I was asking. So no driver updates since 10-2021.
I can probably announce that later today the next release of the FPGA code should be downloadable. It is currently shipping in new units.
The code should fix most of the ticks and pops reported to me and Iāve had the help of more than a few forum members to check that it addresses the problems they had.
This isnāt the end of the work on transitions, but as we encounter more devices that do other āinterestingā things during track or format transitions weāll address them if we can. The afore mentioned UI release in April will have some more of this work as well.
[Edit: Iāll give specific download instructions when it appears on the web site.]
What production date has this been installed already?
Thatās good news that new code is shipping with new units. I want nothing better than to have new code already installed in my unit, and seems it will be.
The last few days or perhaps just today. I donāt know closer than that. It doesnāt matter. Anyone can check the version screen for the FPGA version and if itās still 179-Antero the new version will be available on the site soon.
Thanks Ted.
Ted has said that the new fpgaās and the software tools make for less need for multiple compiles.
