Forum just went wonky

Thanks Paul. At least you’re not part of the giant Cloudflare outage that’s currently affecting nearly everything else on the internet this morning!

On the PSA design changes, we’ll get used to whatever you decide to do, even if we grumble at first. I remember when the blue PSAudio icon used to go to the forum homepage, and from a redesign a year or two ago it became a link to the main PSA company homepage. Old habits die hard, but we all figured it out.

Only thing I’ll say is that your new image for “home” seems kinda out of character with the rest of the site design. I hesitate to say “hokey” but it kinda looks like barn/farm imagery.

EDIT: funny… i have to MAKE myself click on that new home button; it just looks so strange to me. Like the logo/branding for a child’s toy.

My reflex is to gravitate to the PSA icon, like back in the day!

Here we go again

All that white stuff at the top and bottom of the screen is ugly as sin in Dark Mode…

Edit - Firefox browser v145.0 64 bit (on Linux Mint)

I would like PSA to look closely at the Roon forum. I believe they use the same forum software. It is functional and looks perfect in dark mode. :folded_hands:

This morning on my Win 11 laptop with FireFox (most recent update), I see that the row with the Home icon has vanished. I have mixed feelings about this. That icon did not fit with the design of the site IMO. But there should be an easy way to go back to the list of topics other than choosing “The Hi-Fi Family” and then “Forums.” The good news is that the footer bar is no longer glaring white in dark model. Screen shot:

Ok, thanks. I think the dark mode should now be fixed. Please have a look. Maybe if I have the bandwidth later I’ll also fix the top PS Menu strip to match, but for now, I believe all the dark theme issues are resolved. Let me know.

Switching back to light theme.

No home button.

I logged out, closed the tab, did some other stuff and came back; still no home row. Does the home row show in light mode?

The home icon/row shows on my laptop/Win 11/Edge and the footer is dark. :+1:

Try a shift+refresh and see if that doesn’t work. Send me a screenshot of what you’re seeing/not seeing in that area.

This is what my screen looks like upon refresh.

Neither plain refresh nor shift-refresh gets the home row visible (I think shift-refresh may be a Mac thing). Here’s what I see:

Agreed. What would look better? This is not my specialty. I generated that as a home with music icon. Thoughts? Anyone good at this that wants to make a suggestion?

Yay! One positive mark. Thank you.

This is what I see using Chrome on Windows 11:

Paul’s screenshot in dark mode makes the home row look much narrower (and better).

I just tried using Edge on my Windows laptop (normally I don’t touch Edge with a ten-foot pole). I logged in and everything looks OK, including the Home icon. So there may be a FireFox issue here, but I don’t know about such things. Edge screen shot:

Looking much, much better in dark mode, however in light or dark mode the Home button now appears as a “boxed ?” Suggestions to correct this welcomed. Using MAC BOOK Pro AIR Sequoia 15.7.1 and Duck Duck Go browser.

MacBook pro (Tahoe 26.1) Safari (26.1 (21622.2.11.11.9). the home button does not show–just a small blue box with a ? in it.

I’d say even if you just find a fairly clean blue “home” icon, that would be fine. Lots out there available that are royalty free, or easily created.

You’ve got that circle in the lower right corner, that’s your theme right there!

I was not going to say anything but yeah I agree the new home button I did not notice for a bit. The rainbow sides threw me off. Just a home would be fine.

Yup. Figured it out. Can you try now? I think it’s fixed. Thanks for all the help! I’ll work on a new logo next.
