They also have to check his gun at the door. Unless that changed? Lol
No open carry without license must be 21. No check at door. Concealed allowed if no signage.
Last time I was in Texas maybe over 25 years I remember a steak place with a gun check. Like a coat check. Lol
That’s for sales in dry counties to sell liquor at restaurants. No liquor stores but private club can sell in restaurants
If you like Dim Sum, this is near where you are staying. It’s quite good.
Questa terra ti aspetta con i suoi difetti e le sue bellezze, per scaldarti il cuore con i profumi ed i sapori della sua storia, e ricordarti che è un po’ anche la tua.
You pick a fun time to visit CA, next week will be between 70s and 80s. Bring sunblock for sure!
Happy to read your thoughts soon, then. Thanks for sharing.
1 week on the road (LA Phoenix Canyons Vegas San Francisco) and another one on the beach (Pismo Santa Monica LA).
Don’t worry my Italian skin already knows the sun very well, thanks.
How’s pandemic there?
Feel free to give me suggestion (where to buy vinyls, guitars for my son and enjoy music and food).
The pandemic is getting better, but it is still here, and we may have to live with it for a long time. The good news is the new strand is less severe and many do not even get any symptoms. The hospital rates are down too. Most counties including SF do not require masks indoors anymore.
There may be some nice vinyl stores in SF, but a digital guy can not recommend any unfortunately. If you are a golfer, then I can recommend a bunch of great courses in CA and AZ.
One thing to know is eating in SF is getting crazy (you may know this already). There is a 9.75% sales tax, or a bit higher, I think. But there is another 5 to 7% service tax for workers’ benefit on top, then the typical tips are 20% in addition. So, whatever prices you see on the menu in the restaurants, you are paying 40% more.
Southern CA in general is a bit cheaper than SF, but not much. Enjoy your stay here!
Thank you Donald. I will search for music shops and yes another uncomfortable thing about vinyls… room luggage! Blah!
So excited to visit CA and in general your wonderful Country.
I’m just wondering how to live 2 weeks without fuses, cables and tubes, a sort of detoxing period that could make me rehab. If only I would be able to stay away from this forum!
I know what you mean about being away from one’s hifi.
I was just away for four days to a blissful little island off the coast of Portland, Maine. No hifi. Thank God there was wine!
Stay away from this forum, I know how hard it could be. Do not buy another fuse until you get home! Do buy vinyl and just imagine how great the records will sound on your system when you get home.
Wine and music, what a fantastic pair of gifts for our souls! Together if possible or just one if needed.
I’ll do! And if I found an absorber sheet? So hard to keep certain kind of things out my radar when I travel…
Save your time to Home Depots and ABC stores while visiting here, I did not find any. You are safe!
I lived across the bay in Hayward during my teenage years in the mid 60’s to early 70’s. I spent many hours in Tower Records over there in SF. Not sure if it’s still there or not. They had every album under the sun and then some.
Tower Records used to be a nice chain with great collections that I used to spend a lot of time in. There were several of them in the Bay Area. But they are all gone more than 10 years ago. There are only a few small boutique stores remaining here, unfortunately.
Thank you @Elk
Lived in Chicago for a brief time more than a few years ago…. Dusty Groove is a must visit, and if you are in that hood the Reckless Records in wicker park is also very good. Plus Decibel Audio is next door, a really cool HiFi shop that specializes in used stuff. Also in Wicker is a great wine bar called Red and White, awesome wine and really relaxed vibe. Numero group has an ‘outlet’ in Chicago that I think is only open saturdays, and the other record store I think worth checking out, if your into electronic music is Gramaphone. While they focus on house, techno and hip hop they always had some other stuff…. Never left there empty handed.
