Paul said they listen to fuses. I am sure in his Signature preamp it is something they all thought was good for a less than $10 dollars. But the new M2 is considered by many to be excellent. Paul will not pay $300 for a fuse. If PSA would try an M2 with their listening expertise and say it is better, i would buy one. Same with the M400 amps.
Neither would I.
The new PMG amps do not have user replaceable fuses.
This is a great idea.
No tweaking required.
Has anyone tried the SR Master fuse in the PMG 512 DAC? Or in anything else?
I tried a Master fuse in P15 generator and another in DS MK2, also in Lumin U2 in the past and did not like them. I like it in PST as I remember.
I like AM M2 fuse in PMG512, but stock fuse in PMG SACD.
Here is a thread started Feb 2023, quite lengthy with many participants with many views. Have fun reading
Yes I had the had the SR Master fuse in the MK II & I was reluctant to put it in the PMG which requires a fuse with a higher rating thinking that might blow the $500 fuse but knock on wood , it is doing fine. I only did this after the unit was fully broken in so I could evaluate any difference it made. It made a subtle but positive impact on the presentation. It had more of a positive impact on the MK II. I have SR Master fuses in my P15 power plant & PMG pre . I am debating whether to go with the Pinks or Master fuses in my Atma- Sphere Class D amps but there is no way I install either in my Cary Audio 211 FE tube amps.
As some may be aware The Cable Company is running a special on the SR Quantum Master Fuse. The first is $595 and the second is 50% off.
Needed to add that quite some time ago I switched out the SR master for the pink one in my Parrasound JC5 amp. The swap out for the pink seemed to my ears better textured and in all other subjective value a better fit than the SR Master…
Best wishes

Master fuse could sound darker, or even dense so it may help a system (especially sources) that is sounding on the brighter side. Pink fuse on the other hand is on the opposite side of Master with its clean, fast, and even lean sound. I really like Pink in MU2, more than even my favorite AM M2 fuse. I do not believe MU2 will like Master fuse.
On the other hand, AM M2 fuse in PMG512 is a great match!
