Getting colder there in Boulder? Flu shot time

Beef I just couldn’t pass it up…just had to tease ya…

No worries. I was actually asked to stay out of harm’s way, including away from the windows. (Imagine the owner’s liability!) If the big one goes toward the house, it could get ugly. Fortunately the snow is melting off the trees now.

Will the big one be cut back or down?

Getting colder tonight:

And there is some chatter that the flu shot - especially the 2nd one - just might help with early onset alzheimer’s. I’m in.

While this is likely correlation, not causation, it is an interesting connection.

Here in Australia, in Victoria in particular, the ski season was cancelled. The resorts tried to keep up with the continuously changing government regulations but eventually just had to shut down. Mount Hotham was taken over by Veil just last year so this is not good first Australian season for them.

There were restrictions on how many people are allowed at the resort at any time, how many on the slopes, how many on lifts, etc. You had to book in advance and the slots just disappeared in minutes once released and even if you had a season pass there was no happiness to you unless you managed to secure one of the spots.

Hope you have a better season. I came to CO to a two-week ski trip a couple of years ago. Was great except was a bit early in the season, wasn’t much snow yet. Never seen that many moguls in my life

Yeah, you definitely want to hit Summit County mid-Feb thru March. (March being the snowiest month here).

There’s so much terrain available that the big worry is crowding in the restaurants (bars will not be open, depending on the resort). Until spring break hits in March, and if you stay towards the top of whatever mountain you’re at, half the time there’s no llift ine to speak of and I’m riding the lifts solo, anyway.

Beef how are things for you this am ?

Fine, thanks - power on and no trees came through the wall in the night. Looks like it will stay above freezing today, and then continue back up to normal temps over the next few days. Went to the store yesterday, and it was something of an arborial war zone out there. The crew didn’t make it here yesterday, but none of it is threatening anything, so there are plenty of other situations hereabouts that take priority. Lots of downed powerlines and so on.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about the removal of the fallen trunk, which is still somewhat attached, and was helping counterbalance this huge, massive, old tree. The thing drops branches year round just in a decent wind.

Of course my stereo gear is on the wall the remaining half of the tree is “aiming” at. :cowboy_hat_face:

“the 2nd one”?

Perhaps Baldy means the 2A strain and 2 B strain quadrivalent
senior high dose flu shot…but idk…

I guess you are supposed to get a 2nd one sometime shortly after the first one or maybe one for each strain? Not sure. I’ll ask my daughter in law for info. She is an NP.

Actually Baldy the quadrivalent is all 4 strains in one single dose shot…
and is why it is called Quadrivalent by Sanofi Pasteur labs

Just had mine in the UK - there may be shortage to come here, but we got in early
Bit of a military operation to go get them (we are still shielding, my wife and I) but sorted now.

I live far from you in Europe. We Poles say that in Central Europe, our western neighbors (Germany, a bit further the Dutch, Belgians, French) will say that I live in Eastern Europe. I am over 60 years old and I remember the cold winters, but even then it didn’t start until the end of October. In 2018, I spent 3 weeks in the USA with my daughter. We’ve been to the East Coast and West Coast, Las Vegas, Yellowstone and many other places. I am fascinated by your country, but sometimes terrified.

Folks, let’s not go down the COVID road again. We had to close the previous thread as it got out of hand.

I pray that the 30% is an err on the high side and not an understatement. Come to think of it, I have never seen any estimated ranges for the different type of tests. Are they 80% or 90% confidently accurate that the result falls in a range, say for example 40% to 70%
