No, see my post above (and others in the past). I’m also a vinyl guy (as well as digital). Vinyl’s “antiquated” surrounding mechanical processes don’t make it less attractive in absolute sound quality to me.
Well that’s a lofty goal! I wish him luck and it may be good enough for me since I rarely listen to vinyl any more. It also sets a pretty high bar for Bascom, but I’m sure he’s up to the challenge too!
Interesting thought I guess. Just because Paul has said he prefers digital doesn’t mean everyone who works at PS Audio only wants digital. I’m sure PS Audio is going down the LP Phono path because they see a market for it. Once they release the BHK Phono unit, if it doesn’t sale they will remove it. If it does they will continue to make it.
Everyone likes what they like. For me digital is great because it gives me better access to my collection. When I find something I love, I look for it on vinyl. Maybe one day I will find a digital setup that will make me want to stop listening to vinyl but that hasn’t happened yet.
Yes might be there are some except Paul‘s son hidden in the back
But as we never heard about concrete experience in a class as the other top products are, I don’t see any impact currently within PSA.
I think we mainly wouldn’t stop with vinyl due to the availability of better masterings, originals and non digitally released albums. That’s enough reason, even if digital will get clearly better some time. E.g. usually a better mastering on Redcloud still sounds far superior to a worse one on Snowmass, although Snowmass is clearly superior to previous firmwares when listening to identical masterings.
I wouldn’t want to pass on either, vinyl or digital, it’s all about available music.
Starting to lose track on all the products currently under development, seems to be a lot on their drawing board.
- replacement for DMP.
- Stellar phono stage.
- Stellar power plant.
- TSS DAC.
- Octave music server, music management system, and various iterations of the hardware.
- AN speaker range.
With resources also devoted to fixing or improving current production products. That’s a lot of stuff bitten off that needs chewing.
Yes.
So what?
That whole bunch isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to make music playback better. Kudos to the whole team.
Little wonder they needed a bigger building and rebuild the music rooms.
You missed BHK Phono Preamp
It needs more cow bell…!
Happy 2019…!
Power Base under the Mac mini? Just ‘cause or because there was a noticeable improvement?
