Unfortunately I installed IOS7 in my iPad before I read this (I have never liked Apple and this is exactly the reason why). Even though eLyrics is not 100% stable (and playing gapless doesn’t work) I still think it’s OK, and the user interface with album arts and information about artists is good. The server also has one very important feature to me, it transcodes the files to wav. I have all my music in FLAC and ALAC (to have all the meta data) and the SQ difference between sending compressed files and wav files to the PWD is big, so I will never go back not using this transcode feature.
About a year ago I bought an iPad with the only purpose to use it as a controller for eLyrics. I had been waiting for an Andriod controller (as I don’t like Apple) but could wait any longer. But now I have a huge problem, I can’t listen to my music. Does anyone know of another iPad controller that works OK with the EMM (none of the ones I have tried works 100%)? Does anyone know of a server software with the same SQ and functionality as the EMM (all necessary meta data for classical music and transcoding to wav) which I can use instead (running on a PC)? Does anyone know if I can go back to IOS 6.x on the iPad (according to Apple it can’t be done)?
I really appreciate Pauls effort to try to fix this problem (I would gladly pay a few $ to get it fixed, I never understood why it was for free in the first place).

MinimServer transcodes FLAC to WAV and has excellent support for classical music. It gives you great flexibility in how your metadata (including custom FLAC tags) is displayed, although you will need to spend some time studying the manual to take advantage of this. IIRC it doesn't transcode ALAC, though. If you don't have too many ALAC files, you could re-encode them as FLAC. And it's free (but you can make a donation if you end up using it regularly). Mac, PC, and various brands of NAS. The developer, Simon, is very responsive to support questions and requests for improvements.
I use MinimServer with eLyric control point. Since you've upgraded to OS7, you could try Kinsky as a control point -- many MinimServer users like it -- and there are several other options listed in the MinimServer manual.
Hi Claes,
Read Helmut’s advice its not perfect but it works:
Open the App until you see a little part of the original screen. Start any song and touch the label, so you get the landscape screen wit the artist-information. Going back to the mainscreen, it will stay in landscape modus!
@magister0 Thanks for your answer, I will absolutely have a look at MinimServer. I have been trying Kinsky as a control point for EMM but for some reason the Stop/Play button doesn’t work and the Artwork and metadata are not displayed.
@adimon Thanks, but for some reason it’s not connected to the server so there are no songs I can start.
Hi claes,
Solution is to copy first a song mp3 or whatever ( by itunes) to youre ipad.
After that you can select this song in elyric and play.
Then you can select landscape by selecting the song picture.
An finally you can select the server and the pwd.
Adimon,
Thank you for a quick and easy fix for this problem! It worked like a charm. As I could start a song from my IPad, I followed your suggestion and am now happily back in landscape mode

Great to hear but the credits are for Helmut!
A tip of the hat to Helmut - credit where credit is due.
I tend to read threads backwards - thinking the answers are more likely at the end
I feel badly about this because as it's been pointed out in the posts, we haven't invested any money in the product for well over a year now. The program was written by the author of Plug Player, Howard Abrahms. I am trying to get a hold of Howard to see if there isn't something we can do. The problem is once you stop supporting something, OS changes will eventually kill the use of a product. If we can get Howard to fix it we will. If we can't, we'll pull the app off the market.
Dear Paul,
There certainly must be software specialists who can create better products.
PS Audio dropped the ball here for way too long. You are a high end brand and it is actually unbelievable that you stopped supporting your own user interface. Even more so because there are no third party solutions which can operate the PWD settings such as Native X and sample rates.
With a streamer; other than superb sound key priority is the user interface. I simply cannot believe that you are not investing towards a user interface which is really working. For me this is the main nuisance on an otherwise appreciated product. I even can imagine customers selling their PS Audio products because they have become sick and tired because of the crappy user interface. Apologies for conveying the message this hard to you, but in my opinion negligence on this subject can kill your company.
There are other software developers I am sure but few that can actually write a program like eLyric well. It is a very difficult challenge and one of the reasons you see so few decent UPnP controllers. We chose to go with Plug Player’s author because he has a pretty good track record.
As you probably are aware, the Bridge can be controlled from any of the three or four UPnP controller programs available, including eLyric. eLyric still works just fine even after IOS7 upgrade on the smaller iPhone and iPod devices, the iPad being the problem child at the moment and we are working on fixing that.
Most people I know, including me, set their PWD’s on one setting and rarely change it. Certainly a few take advantage of the filter choices - and here the ability to do this with the app is a lot easier than also using the remote control - so it’s something we want to work on keeping with the app.
I probably was a bit too blunt on my reply for which I apologize. We hadn’t invested any more energy into the app for a year, as I wrote, but mainly because there wasn’t much in the way of changes we wanted to add until the new operating system came up. We’re on it.
Paul, great to learn PSAudio is supporting the App.
When my router stuffs up the connection and I have to reconnect, 8 out of 10 times the filter settings go from Native X to either Native or to 44.1.
I then have to jse the elyric app. Is this normal?
The app has been fixed and uploaded to the app store. As soon as Apple approves it for release you should be able to update. Hang in there.
Well, elyric was working just fine on my ios7 until I upgraded to the October 23, 2013 update. Now the screen is not centered and you can’t access any of the buttons on the bottom…
Is there any way to revert? Or better yet, update the update so things work properly?
Tried uninstall/reinstall to no effect. Still have the old version working on my ios 6.0 ipad, will use that for the moment.
Hi guys,
Interesting read… Looks like there are iPad problems but i have problem with my iPhone 5 with iOS7. I can’t access any of the buttons on the bottom…
The landscape option doesn’t work for an iPhone.
I’m don’t have an iPad so actually my PS Audio PWD is being untouched already for over a month.
Me not happy!
Any advice?

You could try the 30 day free trial from Jriver.
Maybe the app will be fixed by then.
It is strongly suggested to move on from Elyric since really the support has ended.
Thank you Gordon for your swift reply.
Will Jriver works because I’m not using a computer but a NAS where all the music is stored using Twonky Media… ?

Unfortunetely jriver does not work without a pc. I have a sinology NAS and the synology app goes with the pwd.
New IOS app is posted. try it out.
I don’t see the update yet in the App Store on my iPhone, maybe because I live in The Netherlands?
