IsoTek V5 SYNCRO UNI 16 and DC

It’s great to hear that upgrading to the new model has brought you additional benefits. I also connected my TV, and it seems to be benefiting from the UNI 16 as well. I’m currently in audio heaven. Since installing the UNI 16 with the FI-52 ncf ICE connector, the sound is more spacious and focused. Sounds are shaping into realistic results and have a solid body in the soundstage. Not sure if it’s just the UNI 16 or just the piece of the puzzle I was missing after all the optimizations. At the moment, I’m content and just listening to music.
Greetings Andreas

I’ve purchased a Furutech FI-52 NCF C19 connector from my dealer but as it’s not in stock he has to bring it in so it might be two weeks before I receive it.
I can’t really believe I’m getting the full performance from the Uni 16 until I have NCF plugs on both ends of my power cord.
I have a Wattgate C19 connector on the power cord currently but the Wattgate doesn’t fully accommodate the thickness of my power cord so I wasn’t offered much room to attach the cables to the connector but it’s working.
The Furutech connector accepts thicker cables so I should be able to get better connections with it.
I did resent having to buy the NCF C19 connector as even with a good discount it’s probably the dearest connector I’ve ever bought.
I haven’t listened to much music yet with the Uni 16 in place as I’ve a lot of video content to catch up on.

Initially, I also wanted to save money on the IEC connector. However, the Furutech FI-52 ncf also made a difference in my system at this point in the Uni 16’s input. It’s a lot of money for a connector, but it offers a smoother sound than the FI-32 I originally used in my system.

I 100% agree, the FI-52 NCF is an essential purchase to extract the best from the Uni 16.
I could have bought one half price from Japan but Furutech warns that they may be counterfeit so unfortunately you have to go through Furutech channels in your own country to ensure you are getting the genuine product.
It’s just unfortunate they are so expensive. but anything lost at the Uni 16 stage can never be recovered as it’s pretty much at the top of the chain.

Happy Cake Day!

These expensive FI-52 NCF plugs are well worth it in my case too. I was surprised how much improvement they brought when I replaced the stock plugs on many PCs before. They even improved the SQ when I used these cords on modem and router.

I’m not sure if Furutech products ordered in Japan are counterfeit. China and Hong Kong certainly ship counterfeits. Perhaps the price is cheaper directly from Japan, without domestic distribution. Donald could have checked it out while he was on vacation in Japan. Oops, it was a family vacation, and it was time to get away from audio equipment.

No audio stuff whatsoever on family vacation anymore, and I did buy some golf clubs in Japan. It is a good thing now that there will be a 24% tariff of Japan imports added from April 5th.

My best source is from the owner of ZenWave cables because he only uses Furutech FI-52 NCF plugs on his best cables. In the past I have been buying from The Cable Co. Both sources are for sure authentic, and I got some discounts. eBay and even Amazon are not trustworthy. Buy online from Japan directly does not guarantee authentication either. The prices may go higher soon with the big news on tariffs.

Had the chance tonight to revisit my music system.
Definitely a slight lack of treble extension air and space, which leads to a slight lessening of interest with the music.
Better bass and dynamics though with the Uni 16.
Everything should really come together well when I receive my FI-52 ncf in about a week’s time.

The prices of many products imported into the US are currently rising due to tariffs. Dave uses Furutech connectors from Japan and cables from Taiwan. Is it possible that Zenwave cables will now be 25% more expensive?

That will be too bad, and how about Gryphon amp? D333 may go up to $30k, and I will stick with my M1200 for a lot longer.

Donald, if you’re lucky, you can still get a used Gryphon at the old price.

Andreas, how’s the FI-52 ncf settling in?
You should be hearing your system at it’s best now.
I can’t listen to music as I still don’t have my FI-52 ncf connector.
I just know I’m not getting as good sound as I could and that puts me off
Thankfully I’ve lots of video content to catch up now.

I’ll be checking with my dealer later in the week about my replacement FI-52 ncf connector.

I’m happy with the result. The FI-52 behaves unobtrusively, in contrast to the FI-32, which I perceived as having some harshness in the highs. Although that might be a matter of taste and might appeal to some people. Until Friday, I thought I was finished with my audio system for the time being. I went to a hi-fi retailer on Friday and saw some Phonosophie products there. Since I couldn’t get them out of my head over the weekend, I went there today to get some Phonosophie items to experiment with. Best regards, Andreas

Like what, tell us more?

I wrote something about the Phonosophie noise suppression products during my next upgrade. I just bought and installed them today.

ok, I’ll check that out.
Let us know how they perform please.

I had a look at their website, apart from the fact it’s in German, it’s very confusing, not really well laid out at all.

I’m still waiting on my Furutech FI-52 NCF, it’s looking like around the start of May now.
I know I’m not getting the best out of my V5 Uni until I can add the above to the end of the power cord feeding the Uni.

I know it’s hard to wait for something. How are you liking UNI 16 so far?

The higher current gives better dynamics but, as above, I’mll not fully get to appreciate it’s values until I have the Furutech NCF connector feeding it.
It’s certainly fine for the home theatre side of things but I always find music is more critical to the components and power.
With the current Wattgate C19 connector there’s a slight harshness there which wasn’t there when i had the V3 Uni with NCF connectors at both ends of the power cord.
