LP Cover art! Where it played a major role for you…

Some records we buy mainly or partly for the cover art.
This thread is about gorgeous cover art and where it is important for you.

I just received this one, which, due to the great HipHop style music, I had as digital 24\192 release for long. At this time I was already keen on an LP version but wasn’t aware it’s available.

I think about magnifying it for a place on a wall.

It never occurred to me someone would buy a recording for the cover art. Interesting.

Let’s say, to also buy the LP if one already owns the files for music reasons. To just buy a record for cover art without liking the music should be rare indeed.

I would not, but perhaps others do.

Some years back I bought three of those 12x12" frames for album covers. I would put whichever ones suited my fancy in the frames and put them up as a sort of triptych. I would put the discs in good sleeves I got when some of my albums got water damage.

This one I got a slightly more formal frame for. Love the housedress and rolled down socks.

You can also get skinny railing/shelf thingys to put on the wall and simply place whatever albums you like on it.

Yeah he looks really funny, like a young lad.

Two gorgeous (and rare) Sera una noche DLP‘s with covers I love.

Especially one of them took over a year to find at all (not only for a reasonable price)

And this one you must see live. It’s a high gloss cover that lets the details pop in 3D. Fantastic motive imo.

Even if the music was bad (which it definitely isn’t), I would have bought those Speakers Corner releases for the cover art. Here you get both, fantastic music and cover art.

Something out of the classical genre. Fantastic music, sound and great cover. The cover might not be as special as the previous ones, but here it’s the combination of everything fitting together.

I admit to buying this for the cover, I love me some Jimi, but this was not a great record

Guy was asking $20 for it in a little strip mall record shop that I enjoy bin diving on occasion. The store, simply referred to as Bobs, sits between a head shop and a billiards hall…anyway, I digress, I offered him $12 bucks and he said “sure”

Best,

Both of those are special, and then there are the covers. I too like the cover art.

I spent many hours listening to these albums and looking at the covers.

The inside cover of Pink Floyd The Wall.

and the outside and inside album cover of Queen News of the world

me too. Love the back of Mars Hotel with the guys sitting on the couch.

The one that always resonates is ZZ Top’s Deguello.

Best friend and I were invited by his older brother down into his cool basement cave to partake in some herb for the first time, and he sorted seeds and stems on the cover of Deguello, and he played the album.

First time I ever heard it. I remember just staring at that cover, and I just had to have it. I see it and it just transports me back there.

The Ventures ~ Surfing was the album and cover that started my musical journey back in 1967. Released in 1963, this album still holds so many musical and visual memories for me.
