I thought I read somewhere where adding two Shakti stones to a component is counter productive. I use one on top of my DSD MKI and PST. Definitely makes a difference.
I will report when I get the mk 2 back. It arrived at PS Audio early yesterday morning. I will see how quickly it gets turned around and back to me. I am hoping by the end of next week.
I first put smaller absorbent on top and heard some improvement. vmax convinced me to use larger pieces and they made a significant difference. They are large enough to absorb a lot of EMI/RFI would be my guess. You should try it because it made a bigger improvement from MK2 than DS when I tried it.
The more effective way is to place them inside for sure, I am waiting for vmax to try it before I open mine so soon. ![]()
You can greatly decrease your chances of dealing with dental issues by using an oral irrigator, specifically the Hydro Floss, which I’ve been using for years with great results.
I had a dsjr @ the time when I first used the Shatki. Now that I have the MKIi I will reassess this option. However if you look at Vmax’s diagram of where he places the 3M stuff he uses there are at least several places where he places the 3M sheets. I have placed an order for 1 3M sheet which I will experiment with.
The 3M material is made up of Ferro mmagnetic conglomerate It affects electromagnetic fields(EMF) as well as Radio Frequency RF and Electromagnetic Interference (EM)I. The pS Audio Faraday cage is made to address emissions internal to Outside just meet FCC requirements. The RF of shorter wavelengths can get through small gaps based on wavelength.
EMF can go through metal case and wood cover. The 3M absorber acts like a sponge to turn both EMF And RF to heat. Thus reducing their ability to interfere with the MK2 electronics and lower noise floor
Toridal tranformers I found that the 3M absorber when placed over half moon of the transformer on the magnetic field vector helps either with magnetic induction and or cleaning their DC output. It doesn’t work as well wit R core Transformer designs to positively affect sound. The Rcore is quieter by design and provides a noise self cancellation.
One can establish by placing the 3M material exterior where the effects matter most. I have found placement interior in these locations provides even better benefits to sound. But sometimes it can be detrimental.
The 3M datasheet shows what frequencies the material effects an how to place on or near different electronic components.
If the stuff did not work on electronics their would be no market. The material helps cellphone makers as well as other types electronics.
I am using ASR emitter 2 exclusive blue version amp. Almost all of the case is plexiglass. As I read what is written about emi/rf waves here, I am thinking about covering the plexi with window film that prevents emi/rf waves. What do you think about this?
that is a little better than my explanation
Thanks! Now I have a better understanding of the 3M too.
I would use copper or or aluminum foil. Or a layer of both and a conductive adhesive pieces of copper foil to the ground if chassis is grounded. You cold possibly us the AB6005S with the shield layer plus less absorbing so you don’t suck to much life out of the music. I lined digital board in my DS and transformers with this. I never lost highs or got too muddy. Plus it is only 30 dollars a sheet. If you covered the plexiglass areas did not peel adhesive on absorber sheet seams and used the conductive copper foil for absorber seams it should be pretty impermeable to emissions coming in and absorbing of those in the box.

The emitter stuff avoids most AC noise issues with the battery
power. But i still bet you might improve the sound.
Also @waymanchen11 I just placed my zero hour M-1 fuse in the MK2.
Instantaneous relaxed but full and natural vocals. The saxophone
is to die for! You guys were not kidding. Its not even broken in. If i remember right it is 5 days. I noticed more noise floor drop. It is really analog sounding real
Just how much better does the MKII get?
My BACCH4Mac Audiophile stereo purifier crosstalk cancellation DSP should arrive next Friday or Saturday. I can’t wait to see how MK2 renders the 3D Digital Images.
I tried to not read and post anything for the last few days, and I missed it less actually. That is until this post of course ![]()
I figure you will like M-1 a lot more than others and it will sound even better in the coming days. I remember M-1 does not have to go through what Purple does. It sounded good at the beginning and will continue to sound better. It is a viable choice for MK2 and particularly yours.
What is BACCH4Mac? Is it for surround sound? or is it room correction software? My two-channel system does not need it, I think.
Did you try again the M-1 in the MK II recently? I remember you were preferring the Purple during burning in process.
As you can imagine I’m very interested in your opinion.
I’m planning to use a Purple in the Statement and who know what in my “beta” MK II. Still warm and silky after 200 hours… too early to decide.
TIA
Both sounded excellent in MK2. I preferred Purple first, but after I put 3M absorbent on the lid of MK2, the sound cleared up drastically. M-1 seemed suited better with absorbent applied. It gives a fuller yet detailed sound like the best combination of Purple and M-1.
It is a cheaper version of the BaCCH SP Adio that Al bought. Basically it brings the soundstage out into the room beyond all the walls creating life size 3D images. By eliminating cross talk between two channels by doing DSP of the digital signal.
This is long but explains it There is also audio show videos out there. I experienced something like it with a IDS-25 speaker demo once and occasionally on my line arrays. You feel like you can walk around the images.
If you are putting Purple in Statement, I think M-1 in MK2 will give the best of both worlds.
By the way, I got a Chinese made LHY-SW8 network switch and inserted between Orbi Mesh satellite and Summus2 streamer. I had it in only for two days, and how can a network switch improve the sound so much? This little box makes the streaming chain approaching PST SQ level, and it is only 1/6 cost of your PheonixNET. I am not sure I need anything more. The SQ improvement is crazy good! The strange thing is my DSD256 files in the interior SSD sounded a lot better too, these files are not even going through the ethernet cable. What happened?
The video you sent is 58 minutes long! Well, I will read it in my spare time. Wait, I am retired, but still, I am watching House of Dragon on HBO now, that is a lot more interesting than another audiophile clip. ![]()
Lol yeah there are shorter ones but for the 56K and 30 k versions. I will have to pass on AirLens now unless i set it up as different Roon Endpoint and not be able to render it’s pass through in 3D.
Which direction did you place M-1. I went with Top of M in fuse holder. Sounds right but not into gymnastics of one hand fuse change. It was trn minutes of blind buried , stretching holder is close to XLR for right channel and wedged by IcC too.
I suspect they put the label on the outside randomly, because my two M-1s in the system are of different directions. So listening is the only way to determine the correct direction. once it is broken in, you should try the other direction for an hour to see if you like it better.
I knew M1 will work for you when you say Purple makes the sax sound weird. M1 sweeten the sound of the upper register of the sax and makes it sound much more natural and real. Much better body too. I also have the top of the M pointing into the DAC. If it sounds right to you, I would just leave it for now until you feel something is not right, then change the direction on it. Donald is right that M1 is random directional.
