another fine aussie review re Tempus

Excellent summary, I would describe it the same way. And the step from MK1 to MK2 of the power supply was a great upgrade.

What I do appreciate so mich about NA products is their approach. They never sound their products or add any artificial exaggeration etc.

I ordered one of these last week. I’m finally upgrading from my LHY SW-10 which I’ve been very happy with for the past 18 months. But the itch to upgrade hit me recently. You just dont know what youre missing until you hear it…
I was going to buy a Mutec clock for the SW-10, but was told by a well respected industry expert (who also sells Mutec) not to do it. LHY apparently uses some inferior/noisy circuitry and a network clock would not really help it. At least with the OG SW-10. My Tempus will be well utilized in my complex network of audio and video components. Looking forward to seeing and hearing what it can do.

I recently also made the leap from LHY SW-6 to SW-10 Pro to Tempus. Big fan of all of them but the Tempus is special. (Using Muon Pro as well.) I think you’ll like it.

No Muon for me. I will be utilizing the SFP cages though. My LAN is fiber throughout and my streamer is a Lumin U2 w/ fiber input. But all other copper ports in the Tempus will be used by my video streamers and game systems. Yellow = fiber, blue = copper.

I was going to change the line from my main switch to the audio rack to fiber, but now that o have the Tempus it may not be worth it. I’m not even sure a fiber module will work in the Tempus SFP port. I’ll run it anyway just to have the option.

holy wires and boxes and modules batman

Fiber Transceivers definitely work in the Tempus. I confirmed with Rob Osbourne prior to ordering.

Tempus is in the house for a test spin. Thanks to @straightwire nothing to report yet because I just connected it. It is working time for the fun.

No review yet? I am surprised by the dead silence.

I am waiting for Tempus 2, but it is good to know how good it is from more users.

Ah right right… if it helps, my system is continuing to sound better and better with the Tempus. Spent some time with my other system last weekend and there is definitely a certain tactile magic when I come back to the main system that it didn’t have before the Tempus. It brings the engagement level of streaming a couple ticks closer to vinyl.

Is this how I should lead into my Tempus review ā€œdead silenceā€? lol

I just returned the Tempus to Greg this AM. I compared it to my LHY SW6 w/LHY FMC. Ethernet going straight into Tempus from my Ubiquiti gateway. I used three of the Tempus Ethernet ports. One was the Muon Pro and Stealth Black Magic cable going to Bacch 4 Mac. Second DH Labs Ethernet going to the Grimm MU1. The third Inakustik went to my Apple TV for video duties.

I could have reported right away once the Tempus was hooked up. The difference was immediately noticeable imo. The Tempus like adding a extremely good power cable to a component it added to the sound by removing noise the black background was improved and I also noticed instruments and vocals had a more realistic natural sound over the LHY. The system overall had better PRAT, tighter bass, and better highs. The system seemed more relaxed over all but to my ears it sounded faster if that makes any sense. The Tempus also does better with instrument separation creating a very believable soundstage.

I think the Tempus benefits greatly by have a separate power supply and really complimented the Muon Pro. I wish I was able to compare to the SW10. Imo the biggest weakness of the Tempus is price I’d like to see it more competitively priced with the LHY products.

I look forward to the next chapter for Network Acoustics and the narrowing of the gap between digital streaming and physical media. I like everyone else would like to see these products more accessible by all.

Nice review! It is another confirmation that Tempus is one of the best out there. But I am just as happy with LHY SW-10 pro today as yesterday, so I am mentally prepared to resist the temptation; I am still retired from upgrades.

However, Tempus 2 is rumored to be released next year, and it is hard to imagine it can be further improved.

I will set aside funds for both Muon Pro 2 and Tempus 2 should that really happen. I bet both will still cost less than a Stealth V17 XLR (which is amazingly still available, a miracle that I am not interested in anymore).

Thanks for sharing, Paul. Great review!

Unfortunately even the power cord feeding the PSU matters, IME. Which one did you use in your test?

That would change everything

As an aside, does anyone know if there will be an eno 3?
