I figured as you explained in more than one post before. I have been doing one upgrade after another lately. Now my system never sounded so good. I will pause and just enjoy the music.
I just put back the absorber over the ribbon cable on mk2. It brought ot the bass more and brought the vocals up about a dB and a half.
I have it on and off the lid, and I am not sure there is much difference anymore. But I was concentrating on other things lately. I just got my new 3M sheet, and I will try it again.
I use same song snippets. Its a big difference to my system without a Master lol. That fuse is dulling your senses. Lol
Tomorrow afternoon I’ll try again.
Donald, you also have an Akiko USB suppressor. Doesn’t he also ensure that interference is eliminated in the digital part? Vmax his master experience differs from the others. systems are different. Before the master I had the feeling that the bass was a bit overdone. Now it’s very balanced.
Is there an alternative to the 3M 7050 hf? I always read only sold out or out of stock. Other sheets are available and sometimes much cheaper.
Interesting. Just out of curiosity, how far are the speakers from the front (speaker end) wall?
I only use Akko USB when I rip music from CDs. With Omega USB in streamer I don’t need it anymore. On my previous streamer it did help, but with U2 it’s not.

I would compare data sheets. It has raised in price to 120 a sheet from about 70. You could always stack thinner sheets s to get to 7050 thickness. I went with 7050 since it performs best on dat sheet
Mine are just 2 inches out. They were designed to ise bass reflection to get to 16Hz. The line arrays use front wall and Roger Russell voiced crossover with this in mind.
Thanks. That would certainly be a contributor toward the more forward plane of sound.
I got my 3M 7050 sheet from the ebay here, and it is $71 plus tax, and including shipping.
Vmax and Donald, didn’t you come up with the idea of sticking a piece of 3M absorber material on a fuse? I would be interested to know what happens. The QSA fuses also look as if some absorber material was glued on there. If it works as a vocal cord on the cable, it should be even better on a fuse because it’s closer to the conductor.
I cut a 8x3 from the new 3M sheet to put it beind the display, and use a 2x3 behind that to cover the ribbon area. The SQ is smoother. I like the bass, and vocal is nice.
Interestingly, with the Zenwave PSR-11 cord at the pre, I get the best SQ with MK2 volume at 60, and pre volume higher. it seems to showcase the sweet mid-range more.
3M on a fuse, no way. I am not going that far.
vmax has a 3m squire on outside of fuse box of P20 if I remember right, but I have yet to try it.
I tried that square on the master fuse and it did nothing to help it from sounding poorly. The M-1 it open up soundstage slightly more. It is nowhere near a tuning ring experience with infinite adjustments. That can be a positive thing for a tweaker being on or off and not 1 million perturbations on a continuum from God awful to sonic bliss.
I thought of an experiment with a good standard fuse. QSA also appears to put small stripes on its fuses.
Is the Dragon cable different from a tuning ring? Wouldn’t it be even better to use a single tuning ring for each of the 3 cables? It would mean even more flexibility and fine-tuning.
That would be a curious experiment. It is hard enough to keep one in place and likely hard to remember tree positions versus 1.
You could first bring the three tuning rings to the same height and then vary them individually. It may not be necessary to use a tuning ring on each of the three conductors and material could be saved.
