Oh no i missed a stone …
Have you tried the Sr Master in your power station or another source or DAC? Except for Vmax, I don’t know anyone who wasn’t enthusiastic. Not that the cable company sent you Vmax dud fuse.![]()
![]()
There are even said to be people who are so enthusiastic about the SR Master that they order more of it than they even have any uses for.![]()
My SR Master fuse creates a breathtaking big stage in the power plant. In the Dac the SR Master provides a crazy dynamic. I would like a second SR Master and I hope that the mixture of the spacious representation in the power plant with the crazy dynamics in the Dac/Streamer will create a realistic sound. I have to see that I can get a second SR Master fuse soon. As soon as my preamp comes out of the repair shop I’ll get a SR Master. I’m currently listening on a loaner and it sounds great despite the serial fuse. The Audio magic Premier Ultimate sounds better than the Purple in my LPS for my Switch. More stage, more expansions from top to bottom.
And Vmax never requested a replacement SR Master so as to genuinely
check to see if the SR Masters are for real or junk.
So Vmax’s experience is compromised by never getting a replacement of the dud
for a fair shake…
In my audio experience had to return two Oppo 205s both with firmware
issues…and much heavier than fuses to return ship…
Had I stopped my Oppo 205 quest at that point, I would never have gotten the 205.
Thus would would never have known just how wonderful the Oppo 205
really is.
How I wish Vmax had gotten a replacement SR Master for a valid assessment.

I gave it the master a fair shake placing it in LPS powering digital. It did the things to the sound you described to expect and what they SR describes. It is a big attenuation device. A sonic marvel into mediocrity. A six hundred dollar ticket to a re-fuse trash heap of sound limitations. Getting my refund was the best sound improvement though it cost 40 dollars ins shipping an insurance for a dollar fuse disguised as an audiophile dream gear. I can get better sound with one piece of 3M AB7050 HF sheet and one sheet of 70 Durometer Sorbothane in 6 Minutes out of anyone’s system at 1/6 the cost.
What you should have done is to get a replacement SR Master via rma…
To say that it was a failure is not a true assessment…had I done the
same thing with my first 2 Oppo 205s I would never have know how great
a player it is…
Similarily you should have done the same. A fair shake would have been
to replace the dud via the rma …which you didn’t. Only in this manner
can you then say the SR Master is junk…which many of us have shown
it is a worthy upgrade…
Even here with PS Audio products I had to have my Direct Stream dac
replaced because it was faulty rma…Had I done what you did and describe
the Direct Stream dac as junk without a 2nd try would have been completely out of line.
Your criticism is understood…but your on going criticism is invalid not having
given the SR Master a second chance to see if this really was the case.
Peace my friend

I’m a bit late to the party. Please tell me what direction you inserted the master fuse into your PS AUDIO P 15. I own a P-12 and I’m pretty sure it will be the same at least for a starter.
Thanks,
Stimpy2
Hey stimpy…
Never to late to the party!!
My fuse story starts with my P12 and now P15…
The results were/are for me anyway better than I could
have imagined…
The SR Master went to P15 as the P15 powers my entire
system and thus the whole system is greatly benefited…
So yes your best quality fuse to your P12…was a major
improvement in my P12 before I got my P15.
Write back and let us know it works out for you…
Best wishes
I have many of the SR purple fuses in my system currently so I know the benefits. When I really need to know from you was in my original question, which direction in the fuse holder did you find was the proper way to insert the master fuse because SR has change the way they label the master fuse to a horizontal line rather than around the bottom band. I would think that the letter S Synergistic Research should be inserted in the So you would be reading the word Synergistic Research with the the letter 'h’furthest inside the unit. Is this what you found to be correct? I see some photos posted but they’re very hard to say absolutely that I can read the writing on the fuse so the best way is for you to describe it to me if you would. Thanks for getting back to me so soon.
Please disregard the poor grammar. I’m using Siri and it’s changing my words on the fly. Simply put, what direction did you insert the master fuse into the back of your P-15 for best results? I’d like to start off on the right foot but I will be turning the fuse around just for the hell of it after I listen to some of my known recordings and let it burn in for a while. I hope that I’ll be inserting the MF in the correct direction right from the start.
Thanks again
Unfortunately, the label on the SR Master fuse is difficult to read. Magnifying glass or cell phone with magnification can help. S>R. So the R in the fuse holder and the S in the P12. Greetings Andrew
That’s pretty much the opposite of what I thought and what I have experienced with the Purples. I have gotten the best results with SR fuses with the SR band around the Purples and Oranges closest to the fuse cap. To me, this would be the opposite of what other people including you have said. Guess I’m using my own twisted logic. It’s easy enough for me to just listen in both directions which is what I’m going to do anyway. I have this condition called Acute Audiophillia bordering on incurable Audiomania.
Thanks for sharing your own experience.
Hey stimpy
It seems we all have incurable Audiomania ha ha…
As stier pointed out the SR Master is harder given the
colors make the lettering hard to see (for me anyway).
It has been a while since installing the SR Master in
my P15…sadly I forgot. I did take a picture…I’ll
attach it, but the quality is very poor and hard to determine
the orientation.
Just try either way…the proper one will give more air better dynamics
and detail…your ears will tell you,
Best wishes
I am using a purple in my audio research amplifier and it made a substantial difference in every aspect of my listening experience. Start this morning I spoke to someone at Synergistic Research and they guaranteed me that the master fuse would be a huge jump up. Anyone who buys this fuse has 30 days to burn it in and return it if they don’t like the ultimate sound quality that’s claimed by the company
Hey fred75
SR doesn’t exclude amps…what they do say is that one
SR Master will elevate the entire system, obviating the
need to place a Master in all the gear…
SR says that using more Masters after installing
your first one results in diminishing returns…
Idk I have Purples in the rest of my system.
Hopefully one day an SR Master will find it’s
way to my JC5 power amp ![]()
Best wishes
With Master I had best results (following general consensus) exactly in the opposite direction compared to my Purples.
Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t seem to be a 100% consensus on the directionality of the Master Fuse. What I am going to do is a 10 minute listen with the direction that you are getting the best results with and then 10 minutes with the same music in the opposite direction. Let’s see what my ears tell me in that short period of time.
I requested a replacement right away. The reseller instructed me if it passes current it is a good fuse. Keep burning it in. Which I did and fuse never changed its character appreciably. We are not talking an active component with a thousand parts so opportunity for failure is quite low.
To potentially pay 80 dollars to return the fuse twice for likely repeated results, depending on when the replacement was processed and variability associated with a failure’s root cause is a lot to ask any consumer. Not to mention another 300 hours where one’s system is unlistenable waiting for something to bloom. I even asked the cable company to reach out to SR for me and was blown off.
So a sample of one used in different parts of my system with similar negative results to the sound is where this will remain.
I am amused that another person also had similar results with the master. So I or the fuse I received is not an anomaly.
Maybe a little more time than 10 minutes but you can hear very soon the difference.
Enjoy!
