My ratio is no where near the “standard”, and I used to think electronics are way more important than cables and tweaks too.
But the cables and power cords that I have tried over the years make me think differently. We are not hearing the full potential of the eletronics if we are not using better cables and cords. The best cables and cords will bring out the best of the system too. They are equally important to me now.
After reading your post I decided to try the 2nd Master fuse in MK2 sooner. So far the Master is doing many things better. But Your comment on hot mid-bass is spot on. On some music it is overpowering rest of the music in my system. Even the vocal becomes less focused. The SQ overall becomes “denser” too, and on some music it does not sound natural. M-1, on the other hand, gives a more balanced sound overall. May be that is why every few gave it negative comments.
Master reminds me of ZenWave PSR cords in my system. One gives a great improvement and two are too much. The 2nd Master still works the best in Lumin U2, and it does not have the mid-bass issue like the pre and MK2.
Hi,
I have 2 Synergistic Purpule fuses in my amps. With the promotion of Masters fuses.
I wonder about changing them.
I read the brief comparison between these 2 fuses. The Master is better, I would like to know if the Master is more “robust” in the bass ?
Thank you in advance for your answers,
Fred
As far as the master having a more robust in the bass is more system and
room environments…
With a Master in my P15… purple in my pre and now back to an
orange in my JC5
My system with P15, Parasound JC5, Stage 2 preamp Oppo 205…Focal
Aria 948s bass is well defined vibrant filling the 15x25 ft L shaped room with ease.
The first Master in P15 made everything better especially in mid and lower bass in my case! As I mentioned from earlier posts, the 2nd one made the bass a bit too robust in higher and mid bass areas, and smeared the focus on voices somewhat when inserted in BHK pre and in DS MK2. Two of them still made wonderful improvement in P15 and Lumin U2 streamer.
Some like two or more anywhere in their systems. So it is hard to say how two would do in you system. But with two Purples only I can confidently say one will for sure make fuller and warmer sound in all frequencies, and will improve the bass for sure.
But to replace one Purple with M-1 will do the same thing at lower cost. In fact. I suggest to keep both Purples and add one Master should be even better in your case.
Got it. I have three M-1s and one Purple, plus two Masters in the system.
So, placement of the 2nd Master is trickier.
But I think one Master will benefit most systems for sure. The mix of M-1s and Masters maybe trickier than mix of Purples and Masters. This is just a feeling from the experience in my particular system. Master has more similarity with M-1 than with Purple, I believe.
The Audio Magic M1 is an excellent choice, however, with my P15
in my system…the SR Master checks all the boxes whereas the M1
loses overtones and not by a little…You wouldn’t know this if you only
had an M1 in your regenerator…but swap in the SR Master game over…
SR Master outclasses them all.
With the AM M1 you have a warmer fuller sound at the expense of the
overtones with all that overtones bring.
You could, if you haven’t, read through from the top of this thread and follow my
reporting …hoping to help shed some insights with you.
I put the M-1 back into MK2, and put the Master fuse back to Lumin U2. Everything sounded just right and better!
Then my wife told me the sound was off. I checked and found out I had the M-1 fuse in the reverse direction from before. Hmm, one should not drink and change fuses at the same time.
I did not want to tell her she has better hearing than me.
Thank you and @waymanchen11 i heard that first thing I slipped in a Master. Images completely died and everything sounded stuck in my speakers like polarity’s were swapped. Balance with M-1 fuse comes roaring back. Only thing my speakers are likely as old as the Infinity speakers that liked the Master.
When I met Steve at the Decware Mothership I got that feeling as well. A nice fellow, but a bit of an odd duck. But then again aren’t we all. He has a very demanding customer base geared heavily towards value, as well as heavy metal (the term face melt came up many, many, many times while I was there). When I heard his prototype 300B amp he appeared to be a bit cautious regarding proceeding with it, as his customer base may not buy in to amplification at that price. With his wait list, ( now exceeding two years) I’d say no worries.
Regarding room treatment, his listening room is in a stand alone building, as part of his shop. The room is heavily treated, and if anything over damped to my ears. A considerable amount of time and effort went into treating the room.
