P20 & P15 Regenerator Performance Tweaks and Digital Stream Enhancements, plus BHK Preamp

I may upgrade all my corks to Chanti (love the wine), they work well and are at the right height. Surely, they are cheaper than Furutech boosters

I have been busy watching Warriors NBA finals (), US Open golf, and celebrating birthday and Father’s Day. Now it is time to hug my audio system again.

Yes they can change the sound a lot, but in a way I do not like. I used them for 1 year more or less but when I removed them I found the sound more natural, not forced. Especially removing the model for power cords, while the other for interconnects made a lesser difference.

I have never bothered to trim any corks.

I tend to just turn them or double them up; or add something else underneath them to get to the proper height.

The fact that corks vary a bit in shape and size is also helpful.

BTW, I don’t use synthetic wine corks. FWIW. :man_shrugging:

I heard that using synthetic corks doesn’t spoil the wine or silence the whines coming from an audiophile’when they just purchased the latest gadget only to find out the new better sounding model was released two weeks later that is cheaper too!

Is that true?

Could be…

…but I have not performed the proper measurements or conducted double-blind, A/B testing.

Therefore, I have no (legitimate) opinion on the matter.

I have had a few bottles that were corked, and the taste was ruined. Synthetic cork does not have that problem, but the drawback is it is harder to uncork the bottle.

The synthetic corks are denser, and they may abosorb vibration better, I think. But I do not have enough to conduct any experience.

Well, I put soborthane feet under all my ceramic elevators. most of these are supporting various power cords. Darn, along with corks I swear there is smoother sound coming out of my system now. It could be due to the 2nd M-1 fuse too. I don’t know really.

Durometer is a gauge that can be used to check the hardness of given materials. Hardness is the resistance to surface penetration. Lower numbers indicate softer, more flexible materials, while higher numbers indicate harder and typically more durable materials .

The Sorbothane in acoustic isolation is 70. The wine natural corks are about 55 durometer. The synthetic wine corks a harder but I can’t find data. Too spongy of isolator or soft cork wii increase vibration and oscillation and make things worse.

Don’t start doubting my tweaking now?Lol. If you listen longer it becomes more apparent.

At least it did for me. I ended up riveted in me seat last night.

The question is it is different, but do you like it more than just corks.

Sorbothane does not have the unpleasant muddy taste (SQ) of a bad cork. In fact, the sound is very neutral and unaltered. The cork/sorbothane may be a nice combo to improve SQ. Of course, the cork supports PC to ensure good connections are a plus already!

I am playing a golf tournament this afternoon. So, my attention is destricted. tonight I will listen more.

Then there’s the latest method of starting steaks in a cold pan. It works surprisingly well.

Here are some pictures of the corks in action, as promised:

Should I remove the built in support of my amp and use cork instead if cord sounds better.

Nifty solution.

Once you go cork you never go back, though.

Fair warning…

Depends if cable is touching floor or rack. My sorbothane trial keeps power cord off rack that is not isolated the male end goes to the wall so it is floating.

Is it similar to footers for your components. I have found and this is a fact that softer materials like sorbothane makes the sound softer and harder materials like any kind of metals makes the sound harder, especially under a turntable.

Your system will have to be really sensitive to hear if the cord is floating or resting on the rack or floor. I have never thought of that one. Is that what you mean?

@waymanchen11 Yes that is what I am hearing. The rack is not isolated but components all are. Thus power cord excites and components were damped. The image focus was getting blurred ever so slightly. You don’t know it is there until gone. Another audible audio wonderment. Image solidified incredibly as did depth of soundstage. But subrle sounds that M-1 Fuse brought out is still clear just more realistic placement in soundstage.

As Spock would said, ā€œsounds logical.ā€

The Furutech looks badass though. Cheaper than a fuse too. This damned fuse though, shucks!
