Problems with PMG 512 DAC?

Mahalo for this am doing now… appreciate it.

Mahalo for the input - Innuos now working again. PMG DAC still unable to find Qobuz Connect (and using ethernet but wifi connection was also not working). Sample rates still drop…. hoping for a software update that sorts this out.

This often means you have Qobuz Connect linked to the 512. Set Qobuz’s output device to something else, then try your Innuos again.

Hoku,

I have an Innuos Zen Mk3 (used only as a server) that plays music through a Pulsar that functions as streamer endpoint. I use the Innuos Sense app on an iPad to control the Innuos gear. Unfortunately, my internet service isn’t great and intermittent disruptions in signal can disrupt the music. (During disruptions, my iPad display shows those same soundless loops you describe.) When that happens, I often have to reboot all the gear to get the network devices back in synch. And if the service provider is still sending me a poor signal, I have to wait until I’m getting a solid signal at my modem before I can resume streaming music.

I hope that rebooting your system (as dawkinsj suggested) will solve your problem.

Same thing happens with my PST. Any power glitches shuts the unit down. Have to toggle off the main power switch then turn it back on. All other gear returns to standby mode.

I installed a home battery system to complement our solar panels. A nice feature is that it acts like a big uninterruptible power supply! My HiFi likes that extra protection….

Protected and uninterrupted yes, but inverters from solar panels and batterysystems do not (always) provide a nice clean sinewave. I’m hoping you have a powerplant as well.

Correct - I have a P20

@Paul Chiming in here with an issue specific to the new remote that comes with the 3 new PMG products. I only have the PMG SACD player. While the new remote is otherwise backwards compatible with my PerfectWave line units (BHK Pre and DAC MKII), the Digital Inputs Coax-1 and Coax-2 on the remote aren’t recognized by MKII. All the other digital input selections do work with the MKII (I2S-1, I2S-2, XLR, Optical, and USB). Is there or will there be a fix for this? Thx!

I noticed that as well with my MKII that has since been traded in. I should hope they would fix that. Certainly not an acceptable situation im my opinion.

Maybe the fact that the MKII doesn’t have 2 coax inputs but rather only 1 has something to do with it.

I use JPLAY as a one stop controller to stream Tidal, local files from NAS (PCM and Native DSD) to the PMG 512 via uPNP, and sometimes Qobuz. All works without trouble. However, not yet able to use internet Radio from JPLAY. PMG 512 will fail to receive to receive the stream. I have a LMS running separately, that is able to stream internet radio using uPNP bridge to PMG 512.

That does not happen with other uPNP renderers. The firmwares on PMG 512 are up to date.

Was thinking that too, but hoping for a workaround if possible.

I agree as I’ve used JPlay for IOS with four different brands of streamers and they have all worked with the JPlay Internet Radio function. Strange though that it will accept the stream from Tidal and your NAS an just not the radio. Based on the history of the Bridge and the Airlens I suspect the internal PMG streamer will always have bugs.

I believe it is a software issue that runs on the internal streamer. The PMG 512 renderer was changed, and is different from Airlens and previous Bridge. Streamer problems are not unique to PMG 512. Good to see PSA has been improving and fixing all defects. Have the say the internal streamer on its own is the best over much higher priced external streamers. It completes the PMG 512.

Just a last problem in the chain is somehow the Internet radio stations would not stream from JPLAY.

Yes, that is a problem. I had the same when I had the PMG Pre and the DSD MkII Dac. I did highlight this to PSAudio (Support/Delia) in an email to support almost 6 months ago (September 5th 2025).

I’ve since upgraded my DSD Mk2 dac to another brand - so the issue is no longer relevant to me - but good luck getting a fix.

Cheers

Kevin

Once a while this happens. When using remote to turn on PMG512, instead of blue light, I got a brighter white-light ring on the logo. There is no problem playing discs or streaming, but the unit could not be turned off to standby by remote or by push the logo button. The only way is to reboot.

Has this happened to others? I do not know what triggered it.

Hello everyone, first time posting. While trying to stream using the internal streamer PMG 512 DAC using Tidal or Qobuz it will try to play the track and after about 8 seconds of trying to play it will display an error message on the app saying “Impossible to play track”. It will go to the next track and after 8 seconds of trying to play it will say the same error message. That was using ethernet. So then I tried WiFi and while trying to connect it crashed my intire WiFi network. It won’t connect using WiFi. On the orbi app is saying there is no internet after trying to connect the DAC to WiFi. Then I power down the DAC and my network works again. I have restarting my network several times. Powering down the DAC several times. The orbi firmware is up to date. The DAC firmware is up to date. My apps are up to date. I still have my Airlens so I’m using that through the DAC and it works fine. Would really like for it to function correctly. Thank you

Welcome!

Strange and unfortunate!
Just in case: you’re running the latest firmware?
Did you also disconnect from power altogether for a while? Also, power down the streamer itself, while having the dac powered up: what does this do for your network connection?

Edit: I assign a permanent ip address to all my devices. That way, i know what address to look for, and the router does as well: no chance for confusion or highjacking by any other device!
